Do you walk your cat?

People walk their dogs. That's an important activity for dogs because they need physical exercises and apartments may be too crowded for them. However, very few people bring their cat outdoor. Perhaps they are afraid the cats will go away or simply because there's not such a need. Do you walk your cat? What was the experience?

I've been trying to leash train my cat, Nenya, since she was a kitten. After a few weeks, walking her around the house was really easy, so I decided to take the next step and get her walking with me outside. Nenya's an indoor cat, she'd never been outside before. She slinked out onto the porch when I encouraged her. As soon as I shut the door behind us, she whirled around, clawed at the door, and started meowing in distress as though I was giving her a bath. Every trip outside since has gone much the same way, with Nenya slinking around when she does walk, and meowing to go back inside when she doesn't. I'm not letting her roam the neighborhood on her own (I'm pretty sure she might bolt back inside every time I gave her the option with her acting this way!) because there are wild coyotes in the area and they've been known to eat household pets. Not to mention all the other dangers about like cars and places she could get stuck. I just don't like the idea of letting my cat out everyday and her not coming back once and me never knowing what happened to her.

yes, there are many dangers outdoor. Speaking of that, I don't understand why people let their dogs out then haha

I don't either, but I'm not a dog-owner so there are lots of things that dog-owners do that I don't really get.

I have two cats,we live in a pretty small apartment and I've never walked them. But I tried. They have never been outside,on the street so they were very scared when I tried to go on a walk with them, using a cat leash and after a few tries I just gave up and I don't think it was wrong because I don't want to force them. Maybe my cats are just too lazy or aren't brave enough but I've never really seen anybody on the street walking a cat so I guess I'm not alone in my decision to let my cats stay home.

Of course you're not alone on not allowing the cats to go out. I think the majority do the same. That's why i asked the question in first place ~

No I have never walked me cats before. I used to have two cats that loved to go outside on their own. Every time someone would open the door they'd bolt outside. It was impossible to keep them in. The 3rd cat would not go outside if his life depended on it. He'd look out the door and then walk away from it. I guess it all depends on the cats. Now I live in an apartment with 3 cats who are all indoor cats. They've never been outside at all.

Apparently some cats love going out while some cats don't. Being indoor makes some cats feel imprison while the others think it is freedom. The same actually happens for humans.
