Rent/Lease to Own Furniture

We are recently trying to leave Aaron's Sales and Leasing and for over a week now they have been giving us a big run around about when they are going to come pick up the furniture. We want to replace the furniture with some stuff we recently purchased but because of the leased furnishings, which Aaron's has told us again and again we cannot move it under penalty of the law, the newly purchased furniture had to be put in storage. We have now stopped paying on our lease which has ignited a new barrage of phone calls to us and to all our relatives. Every time we talk to them we tell them again to come pick up the furniture but they always tells us we need to talk to another person and another and another. We have contacted the main corporate offices and they are reviewing our case now. So my question is what can we do within the law to get this stuff removed? How long do we have to wait? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Steven

Unfortunatley I suspect that there may be nothing that you can do. I am willing to bet that you signed a contract that you did not read all the fine print on. Pull out your contract if you still have it and read through it. This stuff happens all the time. You aren't alone. Pretty much no one reads that fine print and that is what they count on. If you signed it then there is probably not much you can do but ablige.

Pay it off early if possible so that you pay as little as you can, then sell it. It is just nicer to have your own.

Yes that is true. The quicker you pay it off, the less you pay in the long run and the sooner you can be done with this. If it is in good shape, you can sell it and at least recover some of your money. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.
