Loss of appetite?

So I was just recently diagnosed with depression, and of course am not on antidepressants. I am already underweight for my age, but since being on the pills I have completely lost my appetite for everything! The only thing that I can find myself to eat are protein shakes. And even then I sometimes feel a little sick afterwards. I've lost seven pounds since this "new diet". Now weighing 110 pounds. The doctors says that there is nothing wrong with me and that sometimes I should just force myself to eat.. Any suggestions?

talk to your doctor about possibly switching up your meds. i so kinow what you mean about not having an appetite due to meds. i have the same issue but while i don't like to eat, i do force myself to eat and i eat healthy stuff. in your case, you should eat high calorie stuff that you like.

But that's the problem. Number one, my doctor told me there was nothing wrong and won't switch my medication. And two, I don't like ANYTHING! It's horrible. The only thing that I can seem to force myself to eat are protein shakes.

Having no appetite and losing weight would surely adversely affect your system in addition to your depression, i.e. fatigue, weakness, etc, and surely will deprive your body of needed nutrients to function normally. Appetite stimulants would do help perk up your appetite and even depression, maybe you could ask your doctor for a prescription.

Since the doctor said there is nothing wrong with you, you should rest at peace with the appetite lost N weight lost, He must have meant exactly like he had said, there is nothing out there for you to worry unnecessary, there is no reason for you to force yourself to eat after gone through a thorough physical examination by your doctor, if you do that, it is going to do more harm to your body and health than good. Just take your medical professional words seriously, instead of continue to assume you are not well due to your body weight. Each person is different in size and shape, there is no such thing as 'a standard weight' for everyone, 110 lbs may be right for you but not a healthy weight for other, relax and chill. Happy Mylotting!!

Appetite loss can transpire for all kinds of reasons, equally physical and emotional. Conditions of the mouth, chronic discomfort, digestive illnesses, cancer and cancer treatments, some treatments and tension or anxiety can all add to the condition. While several people could perhaps do with losing a few pounds, appetite loss is not the way to do it. You can go short of energetic vitamins and minerals, so the situation should not be disregarded. Eating an orange before a meal can relief to increase the appetite by increasing saliva production. The sugar also creates a spike in blood sugar levels, which will reduce after about half an hour, leaving you with an improved appetite. In addition, oranges are packed of vitamin C, which will help increase your nutrient intake while you're off your food. A glass of pure orange juice will work just as well if you have no oranges around.

You should follow your doctors advice and force yourself to eat. An easy way to do this is to get a juicer, and juice a lot of fruits and veggies. That way you can drink in extra calories, but in a healthy format, and you won't have to chew to consume calories. Just a few quick gulps and you're getting extra calories in a healthy format in very little time!
