I read that we should not use any water/liquid/glass or surface cleaner, etc to clean our LCD monitors, LCD TV screen and or Plasma or your laptop/notebook screen. Having read that I visited some supermarkets, markets, hardware store to find any cleaning device, as my LCD TV attracts the dust most and I don't find it easy to clean it everyday. I had no luck, but recently I researched on the internet and Voila! i found a dealer online who sells all those LCD cleaning device. Since then I have been using these LCD cleaning kit. I mean they are a bit costly but they could save your screen in the long run. Do you use any of these kit to clean your LCD screen or how do you clean them. They are handy too.

Well, cleaning LCD screens for me is just like cleaning a spectacles or my ipod touch screen. I will always use a clean special cloth, maybe silk but i can't be sure since i have no experience in cloth types and all. I rarely use any liquid even the liquid is specialize for LCD, i will only use liquid if i feel it is needed badly when my screens are all dirt and stuff.

I think I read just use a soft clean cloth to dust off the screen. Unless I am wrong the reason is the surface. Old tv's had hardened glass while the flat screens are plastic. Ok, scratches can affect performance and water solutions might leave a film, even worse. It did say though we can use a damp cloth for those hard to remove spots from left over buttered popcorn nights in front of the splatter screen.

You are right Bluedoll, the reason for a different cleaning kit would be the surface. Considering the good old cathode ray tube (CRT) TV that has a hardened glass screen, one need not worry much cleaning it with a normal cloth and a glass cleaner. Now, the flat screens are not technically plastics. An LCD TV uses a liquid crystal display (LCD)screen. LCD is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals (LCs). LCs do not emit light directly as the old CRT dispalys.
LCDs are used in a wide range of applications, including computer monitors, television, video players, gaming devices, and smart phones. LCDs have replaced cathode ray tube (CRT) displays in most applications. They are available in a wider range of screen sizes than CRT and plasma displays, and since they do not use phosphors, they cannot suffer image burn-in. LCDs are, however, susceptible to image persistence.
And now, the new LED TVs are just an LCD TVs that backlits with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of standard cold-cathode fluorescent lights.
Having said that, flat panel TV screens can act as magnets for dust, smudges and fingerprints over time. Therefore, they require a different cleaning procedure and using the wrong method can leave streaks or may even scratch your TV screen.

Initially I followed the same procedure. But I noticed the smudges that would not leave. Also, when you use wet cloth and run over the napkin it attracts the particles of the napkin on the screen that will lead to more grime and impacts on its display.

I used to make the use of a smooth dry cloth to remove the dust from my lcd screen. While doing them we should make sure that we do it with our free hands otherwise it will create problems to your lcd.

I also read that and founde a kit something like that. I believe it cost $20.00 which is costly, but I thought I would rather pay more if you need to, especially since I watch HD. Maybe when we run low, we can order just the liquid cleaner and it will cost less.

well i have also hear the same thing not to use any kind of liquid on your screen and so i never did . i always wanted to get the dust off though so i would get me either a paper towel and dust it or i would get a baby wipe and use that both work great a plain paper towel will grab the dust pretty good.. so i dont have much worry about this issue take care have a great day :)

I buy electronic wipes for Wal Mart made especially to clean LCD screens. They're not too wet which I'm sure is very important. I seem to remember trying to clean my laptop screen with Windex once and I remember white splotches showing up everywhere...Probably wasn't a good idea. I think something dry is better to work with. I know Mac's come with a little wipe thing to clean your laptop screen off with. I think my Toshiba did as well.

Hi rekhum call me behind the time,, but what do you mean clean the
TV screen,,,there is nothing that I have noticed on my TV but lots
of dust in which I use the swifer duster for that...My Tv is just
about 3 inches from my ceiling and it dosen't draw anything to its
screen but dust...
now my laptop is definately something different even something as
simple as sneezing...But I have alway used a microfiber cloth to
clean the screen,,,,It seems to work great for me...
Being on fixed income like I am buying a "bit costly" is out of
the question for me...

Sorry for the delay in responding to your comment. Let me tell you first that flat screen monitors, whether in LCD, LED, or plasma form, are a little different than their CRT cousins when it comes to cleaning. Your standard CRT monitor has a glass screen and can be cleaned in pretty much the same way as you would any other glass in your home or office. As a result, if you have a CRT screen TV, you need not have to worry much and carry on with the normal cleaning procedure.
Meanwhile, flat screen monitors/TV(LCD/LED/Plasma), however, require a bit of special care when cleaning. Their displays are much more sensitive and are easily scratched and damaged. I know it could cost you from $15 to $20 for the cleaning kit, but you can use it for a good 2 months to 3 months, because smudges/finger prints do not gather on the screen all the time.
