Gossiping means: talking bad about other people .. bad in the way it also makes you look more interesting. So according to me this is the same as "talking about people". I doubt it has to do with being intelligent or not. I think it has way more to do with low self esteem and the need to be heard, to be appreciated, to join the group, to be seen. What intelligence is, is an other discussion.

I'm not sure whether it has anything to do with the intelligence of a person
but I think it's kinda dumb to gossip
and usually very hurtful
WE, the people...
remember that?
if we can't be nice toward one another
what chance does humankind have?

Yeah that makes sense. Gossiping is so harmful we should avoid doing it and the people who do it often. It is sad that so many people take part in gossiping. It really does destroy other people's reputation.

Really philosophical minds wouldn't talk about other people, I agree in that sense. But street smart/intelligent people would or can. Like I don't consider myself unedu8cated or stupid, but I'm going to talk about people... not gossiping, but telling my friend for example, when a my boss is making me go crazy and ranting a bit about him, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm really stupid. I know I'm not the most academical mind...

I dont know what to say to this because sometimes it can be true but other time it can be false. It depends what people you are round and how much you believe in this quote. In my view a lot of people dont actually gossip much but chat about everyday life and spread the very occasional rumor. Like i said it not always true and depends on who you know in your life.
