Do you listen to the local music from your country or do you prefer international music? Why? If you listen to some of the local bands from your country, who are they and what kind of music do they play? What do you like about their music? One of my favourite Danish bands is called Gangway. They no longer exist, but they used to make pop music. They had a few big hits for instanse "My girl and me" and "Mountain song", but I think that they have made many other great songs as well. I like their lyrics, they are often ironic and different from many other songs. I used to have most of their albums. I also like an artist called Nikolaj Noerlund. Some of his songs are based on the poems by my favourite poet (Michael Strunge) He sings in Danish and some of his songs are quite sad, but I like them a lot.

Actually, I was disappointed with the local music, from my country. Right now, in my country, emerging boyband, and girlband. I am very disappointed, because they are not qualified. They just look beautiful, handsome, and sexi.

I have noticed the same thing in my country. Some of the singers are very good looking, but they aren't good singers. I wonder why they are so popular, I guess some of the young girls in my country love boybands who are good looking and sexy, and they like them despite the quality of the music. Personally I prefer bands or singers are talented instead of good looking. I can see that you are from Indonesia, I have listened to some of the music from your country, because I have an Indonesian friend who lives in my country. She introduced me to some of the bands from Indonesia, but I don't remember their names.

Yes. I am from Indonesia. Actually, there are many good bands. But, right now, they were buried by a boyband, and girlband. I am very disappointed, because of this.

I live in Austin, Texas and we have great live music here. Austin is known as one of the great music scenes by music lovers all over the world. We have two music festivals every year that bring in thousands of musicians and fans here from all over the world. One is SXSW and it is held every March. The other is The Austin City Limits Music Festival which is held every September or October. I was once a huge music fan and went out almost nightly to hear music. but I do not do this anymore as I am now 67 and slowing down a bit. My favorite music was always folk music but I like some other kinds. Mostly, now I just watch shows on television. I no longer have any favorites. I wrote my masters thesis on the local music scene in Austin. I listen to a lot of musicians and bands, whether they be from Austin, Texas, the rest of the country or international.

The music festivals in Austin sound interesting. We also have a music festival on my island, but it much smaller than the ones in Austin. We wanted to listen to some of the concerts this year, but I don't think that we will be able to do that, because we have to work all summer and we also want to save the money and spend it on travelling. I hope that I can go next year instead. We can hear the music from the outside, but I would like to buy a ticket next year if some of the my favourite Danish bands or international are coming.

You can always check it out by going to SXSW or ACL or Austin City Limits music festival. If you should ever think of coming, be certain to book a hotel room months in advance or you will have to sleep outside. Ditto planes. They are full coming and going. It is expensive and it gets real chaotic and insane. A lot of Austin residents now leave town during these festivals. It is too much for some of us to handle.

The music is really is what it really is these days. There are a lot of things that just do not hit the right notes with me as someone who enjoys listening to a lot of music. If you pardon the music related pun that I put right out there. Granted, there is some talented, but everything is so overproduced that you really never know. I think that music from decades previous is something that I find myself enjoying a lot of the time. It doesn't really matter in the end what time or country it is for me, as long as it is good. Of course if it is in a different language, then really it might not hit the right notes for me, if it is not something that I really can understand. But I've heard a fair bit of music on the radio that I enjoy but not as much as past years.

I also enjoy music from the previous decades. I often listen to music from the 1990's or the 1980's, and I am not a big fan of the new music. There are some good bands among the new bands, but there is also a lot of music that I don't like. I borrow cds at my local library and one day I picked some compilation cds with new music. I didn't even listen to all of songs, because I thought that the music was really bad. At least I didn't buy those cds

I love the music scene in my country during the 90's because of the rock scene, but now its genericly generic like American pop mainstream music. Then there is the tons of acoustic song covers everywhere. where are the singer song writers??? where have they been? I dont like acoustic covers of old and recent songs. acoustic covers are cheap as heck,

I also prefer music from the 90's. I was a teenager during the 90's, and I think that there were many talented bands and singers in my country in that period. I still listen to some of them today. I am not a big fan of the new music. There are a few good singers, but I only like a very small part of the new music. You mentioned acoustic covers, I must admit I don't like them either. My favourite band from the 80's and the 90's (Gangway) never made cover versions and I they always wrote great songs. The lyrics were different and ironic and I loved that.

I'm from Hungary. There are some really talented musicians here in all different genres, like electrop, alternative, rock and pop (just a few of my favorite musicians from here, old and new: Máté Péter, Korál, Heaven Street Seven, Kowalsky meg a Vega, Pál Tamás, Torres Dani, Kocsis Tibor, Goulasch Exotica, Quimby)... but most of the music, especially the mainstream ones, I usually find bad quality and tacky (even music base-wise, let alone the lyrics).

When I visited Hungary in the 1990's I bought a cassette tape with Hungarian pop and rock songs. I didn't like all of the singers, but some of the songs were beautiful. I didn't understand the lyrics, but I liked some of the melodies. I don't have that cassette tape anymore, because today I download music or listen to cds. I only remember one of the bands and I think that they were called Republic. I haven't heard about the singers that you mentioned, but I maybe I will look some of them up Youtube, because I like to listen to music from many different countries.

around here we have only 3-4 good bands, but that depends on the genre of music you're into. Many commercial bands/songs these days even internationaly with no meaning in their lyrics,no message to be expressed through their songs.

I can see that you are from Romania. I don't know any of the bands from your country. Which genre do you like? I mostly listen to pop and rock, but sometimes I want to try something new and then I listen to other kinds of music. I don't think that we have a lot of good bands in my country either. When I visit the library I sometimes borrow some of the new music from my country, but I only like a few of the new bands. I often prefer music from the 1990's. Of course some bands still make good music today, but there is a lot of new music from my country that I don't like.

Yes i do listen to the local music from my country, but what i mean as local music is the traditional music of my country. My favorite traditional music are: all songs from manthous, manthous is a traditional musician and he composed a lot of songs about my hometown. when I was living outside of my hometown the songs made me feel so close in heart to my hometown. I find the traditional music is more relaxing and I really enjoy it. I do not listen to the latest generation of my local music which is dominated with pop songs. By listening to traditional music it can help me to appreciate my own culture. i do listen to international music but my music preference are rock and alternative music like dream theater, muse, radiohead, metallica, etc.

Here we have a lot of music band but the problem is that they all are not good. Only some of the band is good and others are nearly a waste. Most of them create very good cool loving malayalam songs. I truely support them because their creations are super.
