1930s Germany all over again?

So I was watching the History channel as I often do. Specifically one of their many shows covering WW2. Usually interesting piece of history as it has long lasting impacts that effect us to this day.
But what I found intriguing was some of the striking similarities between what's happening in the US and other European countries and what was going in Germany 80 years ago. They were suffering from a poor post war economy, enough said; they harbored hate and uncaring for a certain group of people, the majority of our country has the same attitude towards; they began enacting legislation removing people's right, we've passed a lot of questionable legislation lately that we kind of griped about then adapted to... Here's what really got me, a few years before things really went bad they passed a law basically allowing them to imprison people for no reason, similar to a certain law we just passed. Now ours I don't believe is technically active at this time, but can be made so at any time, yet they didn't use theirs for a few years either...
We may say it was the worst mistake we made since slavery, but we did put the Japanese in interment camps. It makes me wonder if we should be a little more weary of what we do and what we allow to happen. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but just being able to see enough similarities is a bit disturbing.

Yes, people should study and remember history and take care that the bad things won't happen again. But I think that what you feel is too much. The 1930s Germany and the US of today are completely different stories. Well this doesn't means that some big trouble couldn't happen. But it would be of another kind. Anyway it's worth it to be vigilant.

Thanks for responding. I'm not saying they're the same story. They aren't even in the same world by standards of technology and social media, but I think there's enough similarities we should be a little more weary of what we do.
