Since our cat died, there was this other cat (our neighbor's cat) started to come over and asked for foods. My husband and I started to feed the cat and she stayed here for weeks now since after our cat died. And today, she bit my husband real deep and scratched him also. It drew blood. My husband was so angry coz why the cat tried to bite him that we are feeding her. This cat tried to scratch me also before. We wanna get rid of this cat but we don't know how since this cat doesn't wanna go back to our neighbor (owner). We don't know how to bring the cat back to her owner because the cat owner and my family doesn't have a good relationship and we are not talking.

She might wonder why you were not playing with her. Get a cat toy and tie it to a string or throw it so she goes after it. Also she might want her privacy when she eats and thinks that you are going to steal her food. It could be a teratorial thing and she is not pregnant or in heat. Then she would be very affectionate. You could try to talk to the neighbor, call her or him first and say that the cat comes over to your place all the time.

Be careful when she has the babies as well. They get verrrrrry protective over the kitties they have. I had one cat bite my hand good when I tried to pick up one of her babies when she was near. Otherwise she wouldn't have done such a thing. She was protecting them, not knowing I was just wanting to hold it.

Cats are very careful, specially if they have not been treated nicely elsewhere. If you like cats, just continue to feed it. Don't pet them just yet. Don't put your hands too close either. It takes them time to earn their trust. I had this beautiful stray tiger striped cat come in my lot last year. He was nasty. Yeah it's a male. We feed it when he's here. I tried to pet him once and him clawed me and tried to bite me. Nasty little prick. But I left him alone and he continues to come around. I stopped trying to pet the little prick. He's also a good mouse catcher. Months down the road. He started rubbing his fur on my legs. I just left him alone. Later on he allows me to pet him. Now we are best of friends. He comes running when I call him. I reckon he was treated badly elsewhere. You know other people just throw things at them, or even kick them. But with me he has a home, and he can come and go whenever he wants. No pressure. He shares the place with 10 other cats, and 6 dogs. I don't over feed the cats so they will still have the need to hunt mouse and rats. :)

Yeah that makes 11 cats along with the tiger striped one. Just let her keep coming. It's good to have cats around your house. It helps a little to keep the mouse or rat infestation at bay.

Not feeding it in your place is one way and maybe you can try shooing it away whenever it comes near your place. I don't usually do that, since I am a cat person and love cats but I think it works.

Me and husband love cats, that's why we wondered why she did that to the person who feeds her. We feed that cat many times a day.

It has nothing to do with feeding her. Cats are animals and they do things for various reasons of their own. It takes alot of understanding about them and such. My cats have probably all bit or scratched me at one time. If a cat bites or scratches you, be sure to wash the scratch or bite with warm soapy water and pt some medicine and bandage on it to keep from getting infection.

if you really wanted to get rid of that cat...try to scare it and act as if you will pound it with broom and always shoo it away im sure that cat wont try to come back again if it knew that they are not welcome in your home...

I haven't seen the cat for 2 days now. I guess she knew the message. Or maybe she has the baby somewhere.

Cats love a person who often feed them, that's why the cat stayed in your home when both you guys feed them. Normally cats may not bite and scratch us if we don't touch to them. So that i really don't know why the cat could bite yours husband and scratch you guys. If you don't want the cat stay in your house more, just don't feed them more. When being hungry, the cat should go home.

That's why my husband got angry because we were petting him, but that time he didn't touch her. This cat is a wild cat. But we still wondered why she scratched my husband.
13 May 12
Sorry to hear that.I think the most important thing your husband need to do is taking an injection in order to prevent rabies. As for the cat, I really don't know how to deal with . Maybe she encountered something horrible before your husband met her that day, and she self-defense cuase she misundertood your husband would hurt her.

Stop feeding the cats!!! It will either go back home or move on to somewhere else. I have 3 inside cats. Ive been bitten and/or scratched by all of them many times. They usually try not to hurt me but sometimes i just dont get their warning not to bug them right now. Most of the scratches are accidental.

I don't know the law regarding domestic animal bites in your country. However, if you lived in the US and went to the emergency room for the cat bite, the law would be involved. I was bitten by a neighbor's cat for which I was cat sitting while they were on vacation. When my neighbors returned, they had to show proof of vaccination and keep the cat confined for 10 days. At the end of the confinement operand, they had to take the cat too a vet and have him certified as healthy. They may have had to take him to the vet at the beginning of the 10 day period, too. I don't remember. This was a few years ago.

Yeah--just stop giving food to the cat and I am sure it will look for another owner. Be sure to have your husband checked for rabies.

Just stop feeding her and she should leave depending whereupon you live you can call animal control as alot of places have laws against cats wondering at large and will come pick them up if they are at large then the owners will have to go get her or she will be adopted to a new family

If you need to get the cat away from you you need to just follow a simple trick. IE, do not feed them when he comes at you. When you don't give him any food continously he will stay apart from you.

Cats do this. They are cats is why. My own cats have al scratched and bit me at one time or another. You just have to have a big understanding of them. They do this when they don't know you too well, want to be alone, are playing and various other reasons. It is normal, but the problem with it is that many people don't know how to handle this and sometimes the cat does have some mental issues to get past. I have seen cats like this and worse turn into very good animals and never act this way again with their owners but it is a complicated process on how to remedy it. Does the cat live outside or did you let it in the house. I wouldn't just stop feeding it, though. I think with alittle patience and knowing about a cat's personality and such might take awhile. Always be on guard of their ways. If you touch a cat on their tummy they might do this, they are very protective of it especially if they haven't known you since they were a kitten. My cat does it, and if I touch a certain place around her shoulder, and I don't know why. The cat might have a sore spot there that doesn't want touched, you just never know. I have had many a cats and I have learned to understand them more as I have had them longer. Let me tell you a story about my one cat, Joe. I was brushing him one day, & yes he hates to be brushed, but he had grabbed my hand with his mouth and wouldn't let go, literally. I had to "fling" him off of me (he landed maybe two feet away) to get him to release my hand, and then he just sat there looking at me. I wouldn't let him in the house for like 30 seconds, then immediately felt sorry for him and let him in. I had him for 20+ years. This is what cat lovers are all about, LOL. He was one strong kitty.

We don't let this cat in the house because this is not our cat. This is our neighbor's cat. This cat moved in here for weeks now because we kept feeding her.

Oh OK, yes they will stay with you after you feed it. It is their home now. I hope she doesn't bite any of you again, but please be aware that cats are just cats and they just are unpredictable at times. It's their nature, some cats can go on without biting or scratching one person and others are just more aggressive, just like people. I feel like I have loved all of mine unconditionally, except for one cat that really went berserk after we got him fixed. We were goibg to keep him but for some reason he got really mean, I mean as if he were possessed. The vet did something to him, I don't know what. But he didn't even look fixed after that if you know what I mean. I never knew what became of the poor cat but it all started when he came to us injured. I went and go him fixed up and decided if we were going to keep him we would need to get him fixed another way so he wouldn't make more babies. This old and retirement aged vet screwed up, I so blame him. He also messed up on another one of my cat's operations on his ear. My mom kept going to him though afterward and I didn't want her to, he was getting too old and incompetent.

Also that should have read he grabbed my hand with his claws in a tough grip. Not his mouth. ( In first part of my response up there) I remembered it wrong.

Cats can be very mysterious creatures and it sounds like this one isn't at all sociable. I would suggest that you stop feeding it and avoid it. If you ignore it eventually it might go away. I wish you the best with this situation.
