I am looking for an at home workout routine. I am by no means in shape right now so I can't have anyting super intense to start. And I don't do all that great with workout videos, but I am up for anything. I have tracked what it takes to do a mile in my yard. I have a huge yard...lol..it would take 7 laps roughly.. I am wanting to lose weight but I also would like to be able to run an 8 minute mile. I know that doesn't seem like a lot to some but it is great deal to me. So any advice on at home workout ideas is appreciated.

I was just reading that an hour's worth of dancing will burn off 400 calories. I couldn't dance for a whole hour but maybe you can. They didn't say any particular dance, just putting on some music and moving with it. Sounds like a fun way to exercise.

I too have huge garden with abig lawn and I prefer jogging early morning rather than workouts .you can even keep your treadmill (walking machine)in the open ,won,t feel bored .Nature and exercise together will help yiu loose weight and make your day interesting.

We used to have a treadmill I just found it so boring.. so we sold it, but I love being the yard and walking around it.

walkin' is good at losin' weight. i used to go for walks very regularly before i got married. and i was prolly in the best shape of my life. all went out the window after i got married. :(
just go for walks every day, cut down on carbs. don't eliminate them entirely but just cut down. you'll see a huge difference. my hubby and i just bought a door gym - tower 200, it is called. i've use it twice now, 3 mins each time just doin' exercises for my arms and i'm already feelin' the effects. it doesn't cost much ($50??) and definitely cheaper than signin up for a gym membership.

Don't laugh at the suggestions I am going to give. When you are walking around the yard carry a small weight in each hand and kind of swing your arms. Also if you have steps you can walk up and down them. You can also do like a stepper, go up one step and back down, alternating the foot you use to step up. Push ups against the wall helps too.

Thank you for this. I don't have like a staircase but I do have 3 steps that lead to the back door in the back yard. I will so be using this idea

Well, I seem to have intended, by reading your thread, that you, right now, the thing that most interests you, is to lose weight. For that you talked about the home workout (which actually, in my language I do not know what they are). In addition, to arrive at the objective of running a mile in 8 minutes. I'm still in favor of avoiding passing a sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, if you feel you, you'd better get moving. Always in a proportion to your ability.

i love to work out too especially at home.. i usually do work outs that can be done even just inside the house like push ups, sit up and reach, etc. i could suggest too our daily routine to burn fats that is so tiring yet enjoy and it's Dance Revolution ;))

Hello SissyRose,
I say put on some music and dance your way to weight loss. Dancing is very good exercise. Combine that with walking (walking is very good) in your yard to start out and work your way up to running that 8 minute mile. (you can do it!) Stretching some is also good to help limber you up.
Drinking lots of water is a very important part of weight loss. Actually, it is very important even if not trying to lose weight. I thank God that I have always been a water drinker. Love it!
