WORKS innovation high school students (High School) District 10, Malang, East Java, about Photo Electro System by transforming urine into electrical energy won the gold medal at the International Young inventors contest technology Project Olympiad (IYIPO) in Georgia. Students of class XI and obtain the name of the nation's international achievements and Nando Nurul Inayah Novia. both of them set aside 101 participants from 40 countries. Nurul Inayah, Thursday (3/5), said in Indonesia the technology competition represented three teams. SMAN 10 Malang represents a category of technology. Category represented the physics of high school students who make the detector Aceh oil purity. Works of innovation that won the silver medal. While high school students representing the category of chemical research Tangerang magnetized water to enhance the growth of sprouts, won the bronze medal. He explained that the research done during the three months of this transform urine into hydrogen and utilizing solar electricity to power remote control cars. Working principle of solar-powered electricity is stored in a lithium battery to drive the motor. Using the tools elektrolizer, he added, the electrical energy by 75 percent to engine drive the wheels. The rest is used in the process of changing the electrolyte in the form of elektrolitation the urine to produce hydrogen gas and nitrogen as waste released into the air. Further hydrogen gas is passed into the fuel cell. Incorporation reaction between hydrogen and oxygen that produces electricity. "Electricity is applied to proton exchange membrane fuel cell for proton binding. So that only the electrons are stored in a battery and electric motor drive, "he said. In order to get optimal results, must be selected from healthy human urine. Because if it contains sugar or other chemical elements will disturb the process elektrolitation. The choice of urine in elektrolitation process because it is considered more efficient, requiring only a power of 0.37 volts. When using water, it requires a 1.2 volt power. So that the energy required is also greater. Therefore, inefficient water use. "The process elektrolitation to one liter of urine only takes 1.5 minutes," he said. The test result says that the electricity generated to drive a remote control car is capable of traveling at 60 kilometers per hour as far as 17 kilometers. Nando Novia, who is also Chairman of the Research Council of Young SMAN 10 Malang, adding to develop these innovations to be applied to electric fueled cars. He account for the funds it needed only 50 million. "It's cheaper than a hybrid car worth Rp215 million," he said. The application of solar cell devices by means mounted on the roof of the car. While elektrolizer and fuel cell embedded in the front of the chassis of the car as a replacement engine. Using a 325 volt lithium battery and 200 watt solar cell, it takes into account the urine-fueled car is capable of producing power 100 hp / 5000 rpm with torque of 125 Nm/3800 Rpm. "We aspire to realize the urine-fueled electric cars, as well as hoping to get financial support from sponsors," he said. Once this work is recognized internationally, SMA 10 immediately filed a patent application at the same time hoping Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) developed this study in order to provide wider benefits to society.

i am really sure, invention in technology and education would not so famous like when you get gold medal in a sport. i also have experience like that, my gold medal at international engineering event still not get any prize from our beloved government.

This is one invention that is truly promising as its usage will have a two-pronged benefits-- one, it will serve as an alternative energy source to generate electricity not relying on petroleum; second, using urine will address waste disposal problem thereof. I do hope that the students can have this patented immediately for their own security. Further, I also wish that these students can get financial backing from the business sector for industrial usage and international promotion. The world needs bright minds like these kids who can help out in some of the world's environmental and ecological problems as some adult humans continue to erode and harm the environment for their selfish ends.
