The idea of having a tatoo..

Recently I have been thinking about having a tatoo. I would like to have a small and discrete design, like a star, or a word but I haven't seen something that I really really like. I know that it is going to be permanent and I want my design to be something that I will never regret. I guess that when I find it, I will know that this is the one for me! The other thing that concerns me is the pain. I've heard that there are some parts of the body that hurt a lot. The only places that I would like to have a tatoo are under my arm on the rib cage, or on my left wrist. Can you share with me your opinion about tatoos?

Tattoo obviously is a form of body art and it is obviously a fad nowadays as more and more younger people are into it. I saw a documentary regarding tattoos in a remote village far up north here and according to their culture, it is a symbol of royalty. What was fascinating was more women with less tattoo are less in status as compared to those who have covered their entire body, lol!

i can't remember the name of the village, but it was a documentary by Kara David, who had a tattoo above her bottom area at the lower back. The tribe was i think of igorot descendants, and the elderly lady tattooist was only using a sharp-pointed metal tip placed at the tip of a small piece of wood, and using coal ash as ink.

I'm also thinking of getting a tattoo on my wrist. Years ago I hated them but for the last ten years I've been thinking about it and now the time is right - I think it might be a mid life crisis actually, as my kid has just turned 18 and I am the parent of an adult now, eek! I have found a fabulous symbolic phoenix image that I love and it means a lot to me, because of various things I've gone through. I've been walking round with a felt tip version of it on my wrist for a week now, to check I am happy with it there but also to check other people's reactions, and most people have either not noticed or noticed but not said anything so that's good. I just have to summon up the courage to actually get it done now! I think there's a lot of prejudice against people with tattoos - I hope I can prove to people that even nice girls get them!

I think I'd try to dissuade her Actually - or encourage her to think about it for a very long time. I'm a very different person now I'm in my forties to how I was when I was 18. If I'd got a tattoo then it would probably have been for a band or something I'd hate now. But now I know who I am and I can't imagine I will change that much between now ans 60 or 80. Also one of her friends just turned 18 too and has already got a Harry Potter tattoo .... That kind of thing I can see being a bit embarrassing in twenty years!

It's never too late! :) I know people have the same feeling about tattoos as well. I am thinking tattoos as body art, as long as they look beautiful. I have seen some designs that I would never do on my body because I prefer discrete designs, not the fancy ones with many colours etc. I think that the new generation is very open-minded about tattoos. What would you say if your kid wanted to have a tattoo?

before having a tatoo, you should think about the risk for your life. If you're sure to have a tatoo, first try with temporary tatoo. You can remove or replace with another image someday. But if you're confident with permanent tatoo, please choose safe place in your body and choose image wisely.

Thank you! I won't do anything if I am not completely certain, I want to know all about the process too or else I wouldn't feel comfortable.

I don't like the idea of having tattoos. But then, if you are asking about designs, I would like to have a small one myself but then not a tattoo. I guess i'd prefer henna for it can be removed. I don't like the pain of having tattoos. But I love art.

I have tried henna during my summer vacations. It is fun and it is easily removed so there is no problem if you are quickly bored of the design! Thank you for your comment!!

I like women that have tattoos, but nice ones like flowers, fruits and I don't mind if they have a sleeve. As long as it is nice. I have been thinking about having one and I will surely design my own, because as you said It will be there for some time :)

Hello Kosta! I don't think I would have a sleeve, but they say that once you start with your first tattoo then you can never stop! haha :) It sounds great that you can design your own tattoo. It sounds difficult but I've heard that other people do that too. Thank you for your comment!

Body tattoos are really beautiful, yet it just stained your skin that you can not donate your blood to anyone who needs your donation.Your blood is contaminated with some germs that you can not give it even to your relatives who is in need of your blood. You can do whatever you like with your body but think first if it gives to goodness when you are already given those tattoos.

Is that true? I thought that there is no problem with donating if the tattoo is not fresh. Isn't it the same with piercing? It's probably not very easy to donate in the first year or two. Maybe it depends on the country also, I am not sure though! Thank you for the information, I should definitely check that before having a tattoo.

In regards to tatoo, well its up to you. But if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend and you put their name as your tatoo and you breakup that's just a waste. Well I do think tatoo hurts when they use the needle ink. My parents mostly my dad doesn't like the idea of a tatoo. My brother got a tatoo on his back with his surname or last name. and he has one on the upper arm. When my dad found out about this, he hated it. He was angry with my bro for having a too and then it took awhile. I don't think my dad will allow me to have a tatoo even if i want one. They are so old fashion that tatoo is like your from a gang or something.

My parents don't like tattoos either! I don't like big tattoos, I would prefer something very discrete and personal. I don't think I would want to have a guy's name on the tattoo I was thinking about a symbol or something similar that reminds me of something. Actually I want to have a tattoo on a place that can be easily covered and not everyone can see it. I like seing tattoos on others, I had just never imagined myself with one but lately I started to like this idea. Thank you for sharing your opinion! :)

My mom keep on telling me that she don't want me to have tattoo and piercings anywhere in my body. I obey her because I love her and I don't really like tattoo on my body it's like that I am vandalising my self (well I'm not a wall). I want to share my thoughts about tattooes to you. I suggest you to have or to choose a design that will cover only a little area of your skin. I don't find tattoo very attractive. There are already technologies nowadays that could remove tattooes printed on skin but remember there's always an adverse effect. Tattoo could really give so much pain to you but I think you could do it because that's what you want to happen. Lastly, have a tattoo from a professional one because you might acquire diseases Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, etc. through it. Good Luck!

Yes I would definitely go to a professional, but I haven't decided yet if I can do one and what my design will be. I wouldn't like to cover a big surface, something small would be great for me. I believe that a tattoo can be attractive if it is carefully chosen, it could be like decorating my skin. But I have second thoughts because my parents don't like tattoos either, and I want to be 100% sure that I won't get bored of it soon :)

If you'll ask me, I don't want to have a tattoo because that's not what my parents want. But for you, I'd like that it would be in the wrist. I like to see tattoo in the wrist. Many people can see it. If you like tattoo, why not place it in a place where many can see it. Tattoo is a kind of accessory in our body too so it should be placed where a lot of people can see it and can appreciate it.

I like the idea of the wrist too and it can easily be covered with a watch if I don't want it to be visible. Because of my job I talk with people all the time and unfortunately in this small community that I live tattoos are not much appreciated!
