This may works.. While starting your computer during booting time or system startup, try to open your cd drive by pressing it gently. It will work and what ever, the CD ejects at that moment. Try it.

hi vavisivan I do not have a laptop of anykind ,but have a desk top old samsung and a piece of wire with a tinyhook to use to make the tray slide out for cds and to eject them after wards, it works so all is okay. I rarely play a cd as I have a vast file of music already on my comuputer. Dell sounds to me like it has some problems?

Hatley aunty: You are right. Dell laptops have problem in the matter of ejecting DVD. It is a manufacturing defect. They say it is to due to software. whatever it is such laptops where it is opened like that --i will not reocmmend. I use HP and it is good.

Professor Sir: Namastey Thanks for the response. Probably the mechanism for operation of DVD player in the laptop may be different in Toshiba. As I told you, HP laptop which I have is fine in all aspects. This one Dell which we bought 18 months back is defective as far as DVD player is concerned and I understand many others have also experienced this problem. good day.
