I couldn't believe that I overslept myself

After a long day working on Friday, and Saturday night, and without 8 - hours proper sleep, I finally give in myself. On Sunday, Mother's day, I suppose work at 3:30 P.M. afternoon, but I overslept myself on it. Not until my co - worker, which I suppose to pick up on 3:00 P.M., called me around 3:20 P.M. and told me that I suppose pick him up 20 minutes ago. I look at the clock, what the h*ll, I slept over 10 hours already. I didn't wash my face, or brush my teeth, or comb my hair, I pick my eye glasses and rush out of the door, and pick him up, and all the way to work. When I arrived, it was already 4:00 P.M. My manager obviously pissed, and I got no excuse for it. I only be honest, and told her the truth. What a long day I guess! It happen to me from time to time though. Have anyone overslept himself/herself?

Sometime we are like that because our body is too tired and we need a long long sleep. My friend used to sleep for 2 days 1 night...and no eating during that time also. We was so worry for him but finally he woke up and he asked food to eat immediately...

yes that does happen , espically when we dont get enough sleep, i set my clock when i lay down and then i will sometimes wake up before it goes off and i will look at the clock and say omg i over slept and then relaize i did not i guess im so afraid i will.. but last week one of my co workers overslept and did not wake up until she got a call from our boss.. he was seeing why she was not at work and she had to tell him her clock did not go off.. lucky she lived close . and got there quick.. she had better not make a habit of it or she will be looking for a new job..i think its ok maybe once but more then that would be bad...

Hi kingparker, These things happen. When your body is so tired it needs to recover and this is normal. I guess you could have set your alarm clock if you had an appointment. Don't trust your body's 'alarm clock'. It usually will fail you in such times. That's why I always use an alarm clock when I need to get up on time. It's a good thing your supervisor is so understanding. Have a nice day.

Well, I guess this is normal and physiological recovery of the hours of sleep, when we stayed too long without rest. Of course I am not working (unfortynately!) have much more time to regulate my own cycles of sleep / wake. Those like you, working, and therefore must comply with certain times, I think it is very problematic. This is because the principal are not interested in whether we slept or not! They always want the best from us!

It happens sometimes and even if you don't want to sleep because we have tons of work, our bodies just gave in no matter what. I used to drink two cups of coffee when I was on a diff ult deadline and on the second day, I found myself asleep well into the third day. I was almost asleep for a day! Anyway, i did catch up with my work and thankful i completed it. Better not push yourself if you can help it.

Yeah. It has happened to me millions of times. Everytime I wake up in the morning with my cellphone alarm, I snooze it and go back to sleep. hehehe At least, I sleep about 10 minutes after my cellphone alarm goes on.

Its normal to everybody specially when our body is so tired of everyday work. You can set an alarm clock, so that you will not be late next time.

This happens sometimes when we are very exhausted. I always set my alarm, and before work I always wake up at least an hour ealier than I should because I'm afraid that I will be late... but even with being so prepared to wake up in time, I managed to oversleep myself a couple times. Since you don't do this regularly, your boss should understand it. Even bosses can oversleep themselves sometimes.

yeah that's correct parker. i m also overslept nearly two three days because i didn't have proper rest/sleep in previous days that's quite natural. we are not machines we need some rest. our health and body didn't know anything about work and its seriousness. So take proper rest along with busy schedule of work that is good for our health.
