New Fridge

Busted Fridge Freezer - What a terrible ordeal for our poor fridge - whoever put it in place didn't give too much consideration as to how it was done...

The fridge that was in the house when we moved in has been having trouble keeping things cold and stopping them from spoiling, so, we went to one of the electrical retailers in a town 25 miles away to choose a new fridge. It was agreed with the landlady, for our benefit (and I'm sure hers as well) that we would replace it and so, when we eventually move into our own place, we can bring it with us and she can buy a new one for the house then. So, back to the electrical retailer - Found a fridge freezer to fit the space we have for €315 incl. VAT, we were delighted, thought we had a good price. Nearest ATM was all the way in town (electrical retailer was a mile or so out in an industrial estate), so while we were headed in that direction, we decided to pop into the other electrical retailer, only to find a slightly better fridge freezer that was on €249.98! Wow. €55 of a saving for us. So, we ordered the fridge freezer and a week later, went to pick it up. Got it home, went to take out the old one. Now, it's meant to be a built in, but the press doors were never attached to the fridge, it was just a case of open the door, then open the door of the fridge. The hinges on this door would appear to never have been removed as when we took the fridge out, we discovered long, deep grooves all along where the hinges were - it had just been bullied in! It also had the top, back left corner crushed to the point where it was rounded and no longer a corner! Last thing we discovered is that the 'booster switch' has been on all this time (we've lived here over 4 years now!). No wonder our electric bill was so high (well, that and all the heating for the reptiles, but this can't have helped!) - hopefully now, with our new A energy rating, non-busted, brand new fridge, we'll see a noticeable reduction in our bills! I've even attached a photo to show the damage - enjoy! Rant off!

Wow, that ought to make a big difference in your electric bill! They must not have thought it would make any difference when they put it in like that. I can imagine how proud you must be of your new refrigerator!

I am! I thought that I was being weird because I've become so house-proud since we got our new fridge. I've gone on a tidying and cleaning spree and I'm still not done!

Glad you got such a good deal on the fridge. I hope that this one is far better on your electric bill. I just love good bargins and it sounds as if you got one. The other fridge has some serious damage on it. That one dent looks really bad.

So is that the new fridge that was all dinged or the new one? You were indeed fortunate to find such an inexpensive fridge. One that cheap would be hard to find here. I'd say if you were lucky to find one around $500 or more here.
