What to do with an old keyboard?

My wireless keyboard appears to be broken. It does not work, has no response when type. Suppose it is useless in the sense of keyboard, do i have any option other than throwing it away? It seems a waste?

If you find your keyboard that useless already, I suggest you to sell it in Junk Shops rather than throwing it.. Though they won't buy it with a high price, but atleast you could save the environment.. They are going to sell it too and then be recycled ;))

Hi, Wireless keyboards have complicated mechanisms, it is not advisable to dismantle and repair them. Usually we advise our clients to buy a new replacement. I prefer the wired ones in my experience. Same goes for mouse, wired or wireless, I had one whose spindle broke in the middle of a fast paced game and there's no way I could get it working again. My wired Japanese keyboard get slammed most of the time but I owe it to Japanese technology that it is still going true in spite of eight years of continuous usage.

Wire ones are indeed more convenience in the sense that they have no connection problems and they require no battery. And, of course, they are much cheaper.

Our garbage company will not take such items we have to drop them off at GoodWill to have them recycled. I'm glad I live near one otherwise it would be quite the pain to unload.

tested the wires? you can take off the buttons and clean it up, might be it will work after that.

I think you can give it to a repair shop and ask them whether they can take it for money. If they are ready to take it at a good price then you can give them.

Recycling it would be a better idea rather than keeping it or throwing it away. I think junk shops would take it for a cost. It's a win-win situation. You get money out from selling it and, at least, helping Mother Nature at the same time. (Wow! I'm such an advocate! haha) Good evening!

There are computer, keyboards and other parts that can be recycled. They are generally donated to an organization that will announce a recycle date on television. I have donated an old computer in the past, keyboard and even a tower. These items are repaired and given to organizations that help out schools or help out people who are less fortunate trying to learn computers. All parts go to a good cause and I didn't want to just throw various parts away.

I kept the old keyboard we had, i don't really know what to do with it, i have had it for a year now.. and it's still in storage, i might find a use for it someday. Hwy don't you take it somewhere to get it fixed, maybe it can still be saved.

hmmm have you tried cleaning it? are you sure the computer is recognizing the device? perhaps go to device manager and see if it is still showing up. Maybe it has been disabled somehow. Try reinstalling the software. Sometimes that is all you need to do. Something may have happened to hinder it's use. Maybe you can do a repair install. Or uninstall, then run a registry cleaner. such as ccleaner. To rid all the leftovers in your registry. Then run a fresh install. If you can not get it to work. Then either send it in for repairs, or sell it as is. Describe that it does not work of course. Sometimes people buy for parts. Good luck! :) Also you might want to run a virus scan. Maybe something is messing with your system. Hope this helps.
