Flash drive - do you use them?

Flash Drive - USB Flash Drive

I use a USB flash drive or a memory stick to save some files for future use like for printing. But as much as I can, I avoid using a flash drive because it is very much vulnerable to virus. Especially so that the computers here in the university is not much trustworthy. I would rather send the files to my email and access those files when I open my mail then print from there.

I use them but only here at home. I transfer files from my PC to the laptop, vice versa. As much as possible, I don't use them outside for the fear of it acquiring virus from net store's PCs. Like you, I send them on my mail and with that I feel safe. Better safe the sorry, right?

Hello Dolce, I use to have a USB flash drive as a gift from my brother but unfortunately something went wrong with that drive when he tried to download Ubuntu Software there and got suck half every since. I do use my mom's when ever she wants to have her work printed. I use to do that going to other computer rental sites and have opened my mail and printed from there but since it's not my USB i often do it.

Compare to the flash drive, I use the portable hard disk much more. Since my flash drive is about 8GB, it is not big enough for me to store my files. But since it is small and convenient, sometimes I will use it to store some small size files. Or I will copy a few movies in it and then play it from my TV. This is the great usage of the flash drive. I love China

I also have a portable hard drive. I actually have two. One with a 500GB capacity and the other one with 320GB. But just the same, I do not want to use it where I work. One of my co-teachers lost all her files in her portable hard drive when she tried to upload her grades using her portable hard drive.

I have one UBS flash drive. I came with the sims3 collectors edition. I have never used it. I do however safe stuff onto CDs & DVDs. My computer allows me to use them as if they are UBS flash drives but they have more space on them.

Hi For the same reason even I don't use them more often. It is very common source of virus, and from it our system can easily get infected. Even I use it for some work I used to format it, whenever I get it from others ... Or scan it through antivirus before using it.

I use those as well, but when I prefer transferring and saving files in my email than connecting my memory card or USB flash drive when I'm in school or when I'm in an internet cafe. And it for the same reason as yours, I don't wanna risk the important files I have in them when I connect them to computers aside mine.

I use them a lot for my writing and pictures. I am so surprised at how much they hold. They have been a life saver for me. I only use them on my computer and no where else. I can understand how viruses could be gotten in the university.

I use flash drives too as my storage for important documents especially if it's related to my school works. It's really prone in viruses that's why we need to think twice before plugging it into the system unit because if a virus would infect the drive, everything on it will be infected as well and will be damaged. Thanks for giving me an idea to use e-mail in storing files rather than plugging my flash drive to an untrusted PCs.

Well flash drive is really helpful in saving files that we want and quite portable but the consequence is that it is really prone to viruses especially when inserting in different computers.

I used them a lot during college. I didn't have any virus problems. If I had I would have probably did what you do, use email. The computers in our university were pretty well taken care of so not really a lot to worry about viruses.

I use usb rarely since i don't really have much things to be printed. I'm also afraid that a virus miggt be infected on my laptop that's why i only use it if necessary, as possible..

Actually I stopped using flash drives, even though they are now equipped with technology to scan the drive for viruses and so, but there is a website called dropbox.com that you can upload your files to privately or publicly. Since smartphones, Blackberries, laptops and the such are so common, you can access your files both on the computer online or from your phone, as well as uploading!

A few years ago, I used to rely heavily on USB Flash Drives. Now with the availability of online storage sites and programs such as iCloud, I do not use them anymore. These online storage are accessible 24 hours a day and have a larger storage capacity.

I only use a flash drive between my two personal computers. I work on my desktop and then save my work to the flashdrive. Then I go to bed and take my laptop and finish working! Then I resave the new work and the next day I put it back on my desk top! lol... workaholic!

When I was going to school, it seemed like it was a sensible idea to have a back up and a back up to the back up and a back up to the back up to the...well you get the point. After all if someone works for hours and doesn't back up their work, they are just really asking for all sorts of issues with the work not saving properly and all of that. Of course, a flash drive is just really one of the many ways to back up the work. If the files are small enough and compact enough, then zipping them up and sending them to a Yahoo and G-Mail account is also something that is extremely feasible to say the very least. It really does depend but it doesn't hurt to have some back ups. Just on the side of security.
