Im in sad mood :( My paypal account has been limited, when I login to my account I got this message and I also receive email from paypal "your account has been limited until we hear from you" dear ****** ****** (my name) we need your help resolving an issue with your account. To give us time to work together on this, we temporarily limited what you can do with your account until the issue is resolved. what's the problem? we noticed some unusual log in activity with your account. Please check that no one has logged in to your account without your permissions. take a moment to change your password and security questions and review your account information and recent transaction for changes or unknown payment when I go to the resolution center how to remove the limitation, it told me to add credit card number but I dont have a credit card. Last year When I registered my paypal account I sent email to the customer representative, i said i dont have credit card to verify my account then the customer service informed to send copy of my ID card, bank account. i got my paypal account verified by sending copy of passport and copy of my bank account + copy of my atm card. My mind is blank and I cannot think of anything. based on the email they sent, my account is limited because they suspect some unusual activity but I did not see any suspicious transaction. So what can I do to resolve this limitation? can I get my account back?

I think it would be best if you just wrote the customer representative once again to ask about the matter. But I have noticed that most of the people who have not put in a credit card information get the 'limited' status. But what does it mean really? Are you not allowed to get paid if the status is 'limited'? What are the limitations as they say? Is it really something to be bothered about? Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

hello laydee I was about to purchase something and then voila I saw the limitation status, i did not have problem before i have use my paypal account for a year and use it to send money or to purchase something for so many times and I did not have problem until today. To have my account limited it is mean i cannot send money, make payment so i cannot purchase the thing i want today. I will write to the customer representative, I hope they can assist me. I notice the problem is because "unual login" I suspect it is because i login from tablet pc when i try to make payment to purchase the thing i want to buy.

Laydee is right to some extent, i feel you account has been phished and someone tried logging in from a different i.p, so paypal decided to limited the account because it did raise their fraud flag. All you need to do is try to contact them as you might need to confirm some information with them proving that you own the account. One other thing you should check is your credit card, which was used in verifying your account, so you would need to check that as it might have expired.

You might not be seeing something odd to you but they are to them. Most of the time its nothing all you have to do is go in and fix what they are wanting to fix and it'll be back on in full with in 24 hours. I had this happen because I wasn't having money going in as often after having my daughter so my activity on it has decreased and to them that was odd it doesn't mean someone is trying to take your money or anything it might be like you changed your name or something like that.

Hello ShyBear88, thanks for the response and the explanation. I have not get response from paypal, some told me I need to wait few days. I think it is okay perhaps they need to monitor my account very carefully before they remove the limitation status. I dont have idea what's going to my account but then I remember few weeks ago someone sent pishing email to my windowslive account and to my ymail account, these 2 accounts are my secret accounts and associated to my paypal account only few knows these accounts. I can only make assumption that someone was after my emails and my paypal. As I remember I changed my login device, I used to login with my own laptop but since its broken I login with different device like my father's laptop etc, and then I removed one of my email that associated with my paypal last week (10 days ago), then I wanted to buy something after I got my payment. I was panick when i found out my paypal is limited, but I understand they did it to protect my account.

They are very good about protecting peoples money. I know I had to fix mine because I had some charges done to my account that I didn't approve of then I also had changed my name yet from when I got married 2 years ago and on my bank account it shows my married name and not my maiden name so I had to fix that as well. Some things they go through quick and others not so much. give a bit of time and they should email you back when its all cleared up.

Since they have addressed you by name, this is a genuine mail. I frequently get similar mails 'from PayPal' but addressing me as 'Dear Customer' and usually with what looks like a PDF attachment (but is NOT ... it is a virus!) You should not panic but should do as they suggest and change your password and security questions (it's wise to keep a copy in a safe place). Your new password should include upper and lower case letters, numerals and symbols and should not be based on any common word or personal information, though it should, of course, be memorable to you. For example, I might choose the name of a place where I had a memorable holiday, let us say "Barnstaple" (10 characters) and might use it as: "bArN$T4P13" (Every OTHER letter is upper case and replacing the 's' with '$' and the second 'a' with 4, the 'l' with '1' and the 'e' with '3'). It is VERY important that you do not use the same password which you use for any other accounts, especially the email which you use as the contact for PayPal! Once you have changed your password and memorable information (and checked that there are no unauthorised transactions), send an email to support saying that you have checked your account and changed your password &c. They will probably ask for new copies of the things you may have had to send before simply because anyone who might have had access to your account might have been able to do the above but would NOT be able to send copies of the necessary information. PayPal work hard to protect you but keeping your account secure sometimes means that there is a little inconvenience to you.

Oh i have such experience before, unusual log ins which i also got confused and end up giving up. Why not try contacting customer service? as for me, i gave up and i opened a new paypal account FF, i then applied for a union bank debit eon card as they can easily be connected to paypal and it made my life easier. I hope you can sort this out FF so you won't have any problems.

Hi JJ , thanks for the response and for sharing your experience. I feel so much better now, I was panick and my mind went blank . Although I appreciate paypal for the account protection, it made me panick because I was in the middle of a transaction so I need to wait until paypal resolve this issue. I never had this unusual login problem I used to login with my laptop but since my laptop broken and I have to use my dad's laptop, office pc sometime I use his netbook and tablet pc, maybe this is how paypal consider it as suspicious activity, im not sure about it I just make my own guess regarding to this case. I think next time I better stick to one device when making transaction with paypal. Im still waiting for the response from the paypal representative. you are lucky you have union bank debit eon card, i dont have that kind of debit card here. did you lose the amount of money in your previous paypal account? it will be bad for me if I lose the balance.

i m also experience the same kind of problem brother. just speakout with customer care about this problem. they will guide you to recover your account completely. They limit your account only to protect your account and its funds from unknown members. Change your password frequently brother then this issue will not be happened in future.

i think it was so simple.. they only ensure their party that the owner of the account is you.. it is the one way of paypal for preventing the real owner from the spammer or the people pretend the owner of that account don`t be panic.. just follow what paypal instruction to you just send all the information about you if they ask about ID card and account bank, send them.. it takes 1-2 days for processing...

Always keep tabs on your email you use for paypal information. Every time you get paid, paypal inform you of the transaction. Paypal is very careful about payment. They fear that your account has been taken by someone else. By the way how limited is it?

i think you must be lucky...it is your careless when you did not care about the phissing link.. someone which had a paypal account, it means they had money in paypal. paypal is like a bank account.. so someone who had a paypal , it means they really need paypal and maybe there are money in their paypal it is general opinions of hacker when try to stealing the paypal account... i think you should follow the instruction from paypal...

oh, i am sorry to hear your news. However, you should have a credit card or debit card to verify your paypal account. It is the rule. If you don't have and dont do verify your paypal account will be limited. Go to the bank and create a debit card is very easy and it doesn't take much time. And then you can ask them to allow you to do verify your paypal account. Take it easy, your problem will be solved soon Good luck!

Hello ryanong, thanks for the concern. hehehe yes it is annoying to have my account limited in the middle of transaction, i have use paypal for a year and have purchase so many things and did not have problem before until today. My mind was blank but then I get advice to write to the customer service. Im waiting for their response, hopefully they will solve this problem as soon as possible. I have my debit card and I used it to verify my account a year ago, this problem happen because paypal suspect a unusual login. I was panick but i learn that paypal did it in order to protect our account, I think it is a good thing of paypal to prevent my account from hacker. Im glad they have this security system, i hope to get my account limitation removed and i can use it again
