When do you know if you have to change your Ipod's battery already?

Iam just wondering if its time to change batteries if your Ipod already has faster battery life? I had a nano, but I realized that the nano loses its battery life even if its just newly charged. What makes the ipod lose battery life fast anyways?

hi,
for me, i think i have to change my ipods battery when it couldn't charge anymore, because its the sign that the battery is really damage or cant be re-charge anymore.i think the life of the battery will vary to the screen of the ipod because the more we open the screen the more energy to be used.

I have had a lot of iPods in the past, and have never had to change their battery. I think that they have come down in price now to the extent that it would cost too much to replace the battery so you might as well just get a new machine instead. I think that you would have to be careful to get a good quality battery, and you might end up actually spending more money than the iPod is worth. I don't really use mine any more as I have an iPhone now, so I will just use that for all of my music that I would like to listen to.

If it looses its battery life quickly it sounds like your ipod needs a new battery. I don't know if it has a warning that your battery life is limited or not, I have had mine 7 years...use it daily...and still have seen no warning or problem with battery life!
