My boyfriend and i have a Growing Box Turtle. He seems very happy, and loves eggs. my question is this? since the weather has changed his skin has become very dry! this may be silly but is there any thing we can do for that. It dosent look comfortable at all. please any advice would be helpful, ive never had a turtle before.

Aw, I love turtles;) You're poor little guy....
Okay, I took my dog to get her yearly vaccine shots and while I was there, I asked the vet why this skin an the back area of her front legs were so rough and he said....it was just really dry skin.
Thenhe told me that if I really wanted to do something about it, all I needed to do was apply lotion!
It seemed funny but I got some Lubriderm and now that skin isn't rough anymore! (My only problem is that she tries to lick it off but it's too hard for her to reach so it works;)
I don't want to say "try lotion" in case your turtle's skin shouldn't have it on, but it's the firs tthing I thought of.
My suggestion is to just stop in a pet store or your vet's office sometime and ask them.
Good luck!

HELLO. I HAVE A DESSERT TORTOISE. I have had him for 8 years. He is rather large... around 35lbs and still growing. Yes they do get dry skin. Its natural. My turtles shell even peels as he grows I try to read up on as much info I can about my buddy, because I want to provide the best care for him. I dont think I would go there putting lotion on him. He is growing and his skin will flake and peel as he grows and along with the season changing. If your turtle isnt sneezing or his nose isnt running and all the typical sighns of trama. I say let him be.
