Well, today my house was rented by one of the local movie productions here in our country, and my family is really excited. The movie making would take three days here in our house, and they would be renting it for a reasonable amount. The exciting part for my kids is seeing the lead star [a teenage female]. The movie is supposed to be a horror-suspense, and that would be really something awesome to see on how to actually see how these scenes are made into a movie.

Actually our house has sufficient light, the street lights are the problem as some are not working, lol! The ambiance at night is well enough to cause some sort of creepiness, lol! but i guess it is a nice place for shoot due our isolated location and there would not be too much commotion.

I don't watch horror movies as in horror you are as good as the bizarre happenings. There's no real plot and the script does not offer much. For me the magic is in the script and the director's vision. And as for telling friends, the first day of shooting about fifty people turned up to watch. We couldn't give them food but we allowed them to watch and then closed the set for the rest of the shoot.

"Pridyider" is the movie title. The actress is Andy Eigenmann. Our house is just an ordinary house, not too creepy, but isolated as houses are far apart and in between are trees, weeds and tall grasses. In addition, the view from our place is quite awesome as you can see the entire town below.

Yeah, the whole process of film-making was really overwhelming including a lot of people involved in it. A lot of curious watchers came by to watch hoping to have a glimpse of the stars. My sons were so excited that they stayed awake until the end of the shooting at around 4 a.m. the following day.

As a filmmaker I would like to know what it cost for three days using your house as a set. My one brother is also making a horror film and has rented the whole house for a week. It is out in the northern Cape in South Africa and they have only the house and the huge fields for a set. Most horror films are made that way because of cost. The only good film I saw where the set was a house and the actors Michael Caine and Jude Law, was successful, is Sleuth. I have seen it a few times. The house was so carefully prepared with lighting and ambiance that it was a living character. You were riveted for two hours.

I wrote, directed and starred in Confessions of a Gambler. I played a Muslim woman who wore scarves and was God conscious and loved God, and had a major addiction; gambling. You will love the film because of the culture and the naughtiness of Abeeda. As you want to smack her, you want to love her at once. She is incorrigible and delightful and the things she gets up to astounds her female friends, but she fools everybody. The film screened in Dubai and I met walked the carpet with Clooney and Sharon Stone... but my big plus was meeting Danny Glover and hanging out with Paulo Coelho. Just a girl from Cape Town who had big dreams to become a writer.

That's pretty cool. Why do you think they want your house? Does it look unusual or creepy or it's on some interesting location? Who's the teenage star?

As above, our house is at the top with a good scenery, overlooking the town below. Isolated and sort of an old house making it look creepy, lol! The star as described above, a comeback movie of some sort, and the title of the movie is "Pridyider", referring to a refrigerator, lol!

Yeah, it was fascinating to see a lot people involved in the film process; the utility personnel, the catering, the camera men, the director and his assistants, and a lot more other people including security personnel. It was really a meticulous process involving placement of the camera, the light, the props, the scenery foreground and background. The cast was wearing some old-fashioned costumes and were not creepy at all. it is a wonderful experience just be an observer.

the rent sort of is like one night rent for a family room in a hotel, lol! Although food was free. They are renting for just a day from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Probably you know the lead star as she had a recent issue regarding the mauling of the alleged-father of her child.

A lot of people involved, the flow of activities were based on the director and the coordinators handling scenes one after the other. Wardrobes and other stuff for props were placed inside one of my kid's room and they were all organized. i guess overall they have kept with their time flow schedule.
The movie is a suspense thriller of some sort.

Yeah. it was really fun watching and at the same time, being paid for renting our house, lol! to add up, my family were entitled to the food brought in by the catering service; breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, whooopeee. The most fun part is having pictures taken by my kids of the scenes being taken.

Oh how cool is that! I Do you know the name of the movie and the stars in it, maybe I can find it somewhere after the production is completed.
The closest I ever came to something like that was when we were informed that a Mel Gibson movie was to be filmed where my Grandmother used to live. I was taking care of her at the time and staying in the apt above her at night, and I heard the helicopters that were used in the movie, late. It wasn't like regular choppers, you could tell it was from the movie. There was a place of business nearby up the hill from it where they used the site to film the scene. But the people living around there complained about it, saying it was too noisy, etc.

The movie is titled "Pridyider" [refrigerator}, a suspense thriller, and it is a local production here in our country. The cast also include Venus Rah, a beauty titlist here who joined the Ms. Universe contest, maybe you're familiar with her. Noise was not a problem as our place is isolated from other communities being on top of a mountainous area.

the lead star is a young pretty petite female who was in some sort of showbiz issue [she got pregnant and gave birth without an identified father] and it is her comeback movie.

Congratulations on that, I am sure everyone is excited for that movie. This reminds me of the time when our home got rented for a teenage tv series during the 90's. I was still young during that time but I can still feel how excited my siblings and I because our rooms was used by the lead stars. I know how nice things like these feels.

The funny part here was that when one the star went to the bathroom, my sons waited for her outside the comfort room and when she came out, asked her for picture taking. My wife joined in and i could not join in because i was to take the shot, lol!

How exciting! What is the name of the movie? I haven't really heard of movie producers doing this too much, but that's pretty neat that your house was chosen. Does it bother you that your home was chosen for some of the set for a horror movie? LOL! I'm sure the movie turned out great. Which actress were your kids so excited about? I've heard of movie producers using old (and even current diners). I just think it's really neat when a place like that is chosen for the set. What a cool memory!

hello there. :)
that's a great news for your family. that's exciting. :) everybody hopes for the same thing to happen to their lives. sadly that could never happen to our house, cause it's not big enough for a horror-film. LOL. enjoy seeing the film-making, but i do hope also it wouldn't cause your family, especially to the kids, "stress". perhaps you have another place to stay while the making is on-going? well, that's better. all the best luck to you guys!

Actually our house is not so big as you think it is. it is a small on house located on top of a mountainous part of the subdivision and the fact that is isolated from other houses and having a magnificent view or scenery of the small town below. My kids were really having a grand time taking pictures and overwhelmed by the actual filming of the movie.

Hi,
It would be very exciting experience for you and your family. It would be very interesting to watch your house in the movie. Is your house is very big and old? generally in horror movies the houses are big having big trees around the house and houses are very lonely.
