No, it's not. True, I haven't actually downloaded the program; but I can't imagine anything blocking the performance of your PC other than too much useless information. So the best way of improving the performance of your PC would be a program that you use to routinely clean the 'places where useless information can be found' (Internet Temp History, Recycle Bin, etc.) The only way 'software' would help there is if it simultaneously erases those files (rather than having to 'manually' erase the files folder-by-folder). And would be FREE to download. And cCleaner is such a program. ("Search the Web" for 'cCleaner')

Is the other one FREE? Did you factor THAT into your estimation of its "worth"?

mythociate: I was using Ccleaner. But I deleted this today and installed the another one glary-suggested by a member. It appears speed has increased. It cannot be measured. Ccleaner was good--I thought the next one will improve further. time only has to prove.

I'm not really fond of paying for a service that I can get for free. What I usually do to improve the performance of my laptop is run the free version of Glary utilities and optimize using Ausologics Disc Defrag. Both of the software is for free and it does speed up the performance of my computer. I personally haven't used the PC Tune up from AVG yet so I can't judge but as far as I experience is concerned, these freeware has help my PC performance.

All such programs merely do things which it is quite possible to do manually and for free. The performance improvement is always very marginal and depends a great deal on the PC and (if one is referring to the speed of accessing the Internet) the speed of your connecting, which no 'tune up' program or routine can have any control over. Such utilities, if they come from a reputable company, are not harmful but they are over-priced for what they do and, as I say, everything that they do to optimise a PC can be done manually by a user with a little knowledge and a few free tools. A common and realistic figure for the improvement is between 1% and 2% and is practically imperceptible on a PC which is reasonably well looked after.

I am not a fan of antivrus or tune up utility released in market, as what I have heard AVG isn't that good but I haven't used any tune up utility to say which one is good. As per the reviews from my friends AVG is not worth buying, do get reviews from anyone who as used it, my suggestion not to go for AVG ...

arun the problem is like this -- after the free version utility is over -- say one day -- I think it will slow down the performance. right now --i will say it has helped improving the performance of my OLD laptop.
