Hi, guys. It's me again and this discussion is related to an older post of mine which was about hating my body. I do my best to follow the advices given to me in that discussion. However, I am not doing so well. This week, I have joined an orientation for a new job in a hospital. Although I am grateful that I can be a nurse(finally, after all the pain and suffering i have to go through... i have to suffer more now), I still worry about how it would affect my diet, exercise and lifestyle. As you may have known, I have just started this diet thing last april and my weight has not changed a bit. I'm not worried about that because my BMI is within the ideal range. However, I don't like my belly fat and my flabby arms. These are the two parts which i would like to tone and lessen. During our orientation, the people there give us free snacks twice, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I eat both cause for some reason, even though i didn't move much, i feel hungry and i get dizzy so i thought i had to eat. they serve us white bread and highly sugared bread, worse, they pair it with sodas and artificial juices which really ruined my diet. Then my parents gave me some french fries and coke float for late snacks, it's bad! I couldn't stop myself! and i hate myself for being so weak. Umm... any suggestions or solutions? next week i will be working 8 hours so i have little time to exercise. I get home and I get stressed out so i sleep immediately. My body is suffering. Even though I eat often, I experience stomach-aches. I can't understand my body, maybe it's hyper acidity. if only it would help me metabolize faster and get rid of those annoying fats where i don't want them. Wouldn't it be nice if they would just go to my boobs and butt so that i get that awesome j-lo butt which is really famous??? LOL Anyway, enough nonsense. Sorry for being such a pain. I love you guys!

First of all, don't beat yourself up about it! It's okay to make mistakes, and you need to forgive yourself and tell yourself you'll do better next time. Easier said than done, I know. But give it a try! Next, can you take snacks with you? If you're getting hungry during the day, then it's even more tempting to accept the junky snacks given to you. If you can, bring your own healthy snacks and water to eat in place of the bad snacks and soda. Something that really helped my Mom to be active during the day was fidgeting. She does a little dance back and forth from one foot to the other while she's brushing her teeth, cooking, etc. It may look a bit funny, but it's movement and that keeps your metabolism burning. So whenever you have a dull minute, tap your feet, move back and forth, and pace. I agree with you, it would be GREAT if it would just go to your boobs and your butt (although in my case, I wish I could donate some of my butt to my boobs. ) but sadly our bodies don't work that way.

I can say that to feel not guilty because of ruining a diet, here's what i can suggest..Before eating a meal, drink a glass of water so you feel a little bit full so when u eat your meal , you will be able to consume like a small amount of food then after eating the meal, drink again a glass of water.. Then do some abs exercise even at least 10 minutes a day..it's much better to have it than doing nothing right..Even just 5 simple curl-ups at least you make an effort..

Yeah, I agree. Drinking a glass of water can help fill you up so that you feel full faster. Also, eat slower so your body has a chance to give you a "full" signal, and when you're full stop eating and save the rest for later. You'd be surprised how all those bites that you decide you don't need really add up.

I tried that technique. My body doesn't like water on an empty stomach. So instead i drink lots of water after a small meal then drink some more intermittently. I think I'm doing well on limiting my food intake, it's my stomach that keeps growling and hurting that is bothering me.

It sounds like you do not really need a diet, especially if your BMI is in the normal range and you are comfortable with your weight. What you really need are exercises that will target your "problem areas" and tone them, which will help to turn the "flab" into muscle. There are a lot of exercises to help with this, and I would suggest trying several different ones and see what you like best and what works for you. Also, when you are focusing on your arms, remember that you need exercises that will strengthen and tone your triceps at the same rate as your biceps.

You are pretty "normal" when you say that your biceps are normally toned but not your triceps. Many people do not think to work out both muscle groups equally, especially since it is much easier to work and tone your biceps doing regular activities than it is to work and tone your triceps doing regular activities, although there are activities that do work both muscle groups. However, not only are triceps a "problem area", especially as we get older, but also being overly strong in one muscle group and weak in the opposing muscle group can lead to injuries much easier than being relatively equally toned in opposing muscle groups. Walking is an excellent exercise for your entire body. If you are having problems with your stomach in particular, though, then there are other exercises that you could try to target your stomach and lower back regions (your core). These exercises will not only help you to tone and strengthen but also help with your posture, which can definitely make it easier to be on your feet for longer ... bad posture tends to lead to fatigue and pain quicker than good posture.

my biceps are normally toned, my triceps not so. I'll keep that in mind, thank you. Tomorrow I'll be working and moving a lot on my feet. Maybe that will be exercise is enough? I also plan to have some aerobic exercise at a certain duration of time between work and probably on my days off.

I think all it takes is for your determination to kick in - always remind yourself why you want to stick to your diet and why you should resist all temptations. They are everywhere.... believe me! hehe i have been to the same situation and well, i have to stick to a fruit diet for 3 days, luckily i am able to withstand the smell, the yummy looking meats and boy was it so hard.. i can always imagine the taste, etc... but all i try to think is that i will be able to have them anyway... just need to endure more days and i'd be eating soon - only that i am slimmer.

The good thing is I like fruit and now I am able to tolerate eating little carbohydrates... unless when i am doing a lot of physical activity. Yes, it is real hard at first but i think it's all a matter of habit and getting used to it. Yesterday I got this positive feedback from my prime insulter a.k.a my boyfriend and he said that my body form has improved. Now I'm more determined.

Hi Aja, I must say that we are in a similar position. Many would think I'm crazy to go on a diet, because I seem to be at the ideal BMI range too. Yes, those flabby arms and bulging tummy irritates the hell out of me. So I tried something. I'd recommend this if you have a smartphone. There's this app called MyFitnessPal. I have been using it for a week and it has encouraged me to do more than watch my food. Here's what happens when you sign up. They will assess your build, and calculate the amount of calorie intake you need in a day. They will take into account how much you want to lose/gain. With that figure, you just need to record all food intake. It will deduct from the daily calorie intake. It will give you a very good gauge as to whether what you are eating is good for you. When you do an exercise, calories are "added" to your daily intake, so you can actually eat more. I generally eat what I like but I take into consideration the quantity, and stop at a small amount, before I get over indulgent. Whenever I see my calorie intake depleting, I replenish it by going for a quick jog or walk. Then I can eat more. Mentally I wasn't stressed that I could not eat as much as before. In fact, I'm eating as usual, but I seem to be exercising more because I want to eat more. HAHA! And that had effect on me. I'm losing some of the fats around my shoulders and a little around my tummy. Not as much as I want it to be but I can see some difference. You should try it.

I'm using an Android phone. Does the Samsung bada have Play Store? If it has, it should be there. I may have gotten the name of the app wrong. It's Calorie Counter by MyFitnessPal. Even if you do not have the app, you can still achieve your goal of weight loss. It just takes a little more effort.

That's very good sydney, very inspiring. What kind of phone did you use in order to download such an app? I'm using a samsung bada phone, which doesn't have an app called myfitnesspal. It's a real shame. but anyway, thank you. I'll practice what you did, even without the app.

My advice is to eat more, but limited food in a number of intervals. This makes our body to get the required strength and stamina. Drink as much water as you can per day. Junk food, we cannot resist them. Keeping that aside, eating little content number of times will make us set and fit.

There's a problem since my time schedule would be different now since i am working. it's not like i can eat any time i like. I have to do a lot of things for my patients and most of the time, we nurses can't eat even when we want to because we have to prioritize our patients. Our breaks are brief, 15 minutes maximum. Our work demands a lot of energy, otherwise we'd collapse.

I agree with aditya, eating often with small amount of food seems to work well for me. I am able to prevent myself from binge eating because I am always full from eating at a certain interval. I think it id more effective than skipping meals and then eating large quantity later on.

well since you are very busy person and you don't have anytime for exercising why don't you try stealth exercising, it is more like giving a control and pressure in your body without moving. I got this idea from my app that was install in my iPhone its an exercising without much effort like tucking the tummy in, or like make your muscle move a little. hahaha I can't explain it well but I hope you get it. I am doing this whenever I am in-front of computer, inside the church or when riding a bus

Ah, i do that a lot, it's become quite a habit of mine. I notice that my tummy area is pretty muscled underneath but all those muscles are buried under this annoying layer of unnecessary fat, which is why i have to do some aerobic exercise to burn them better. Thanks for the tip

Why donĀ“t you check on a diet you can keep? I tried seveeral, but the best I came across was the Mediterranean diet. Check online what the Mayo Clinic says about it. Anyway, try to keep on hand lighter snacks. Talk to your parents about dieting: they should be able to help you instead of giving you french fries.

LOL, yep. Today my mom cooked a lot of vegetables as a side dish. Though I don't like vegetables that much, i find that I am able to eat more and more of them. And we have fruits too and we mix it with our juices. I get full easily because of the fiber and the liquids i take. I only ate a half rice for the three meals i ate today. I'm only worried that I won't be able to go on this diet because of my job which requires only allows me a fifteen minute break. I will have to increase my calorie intake because of the work i need to do. Thank you for the recommendation.

I want to say something to you . A diet can never suit every person on this planet . Each person has a different body needs and requirements and the same diet does not suffice every one . Eating less food and nutritional food does not make any difference until its supplemented by enough amount body exercise . Changing your diet is just one part of it and there is much more left for you to do . Eating calorie consious food prevents the accumulation of extra fat in your body but you need to do a lot of physical excessive to burn the excessive fat that is already stored in your body .

Okay, i will definitely apply both diet and exercise. I did some exercises this summer but none of them were intensive. Now that I have a job, i will really have to manage my time in order to fit some time for exercising.
