I'm youngest in my family. Everything is done by my mum and dad. My RIP dad is such a lovely father. He even can spend time to cook for us. And we just helping him cleaning the dishes. I fully started cooking after i get married on 32 years old. That is because i am leaving far away from my country. What about you, when do you start cooking or start learning cooking?

I don't think that it is ever too early to start cooking, and parents should encourage their children to help them right from when they're young. It should be different comparing on how old they are obviously. For example if they're just a toddler, then you could ask them to stir things when you're cooking. If they're a little bit older, then you could ask for them to put things in different pans and tell you when the time is up on the timer. Eventually, they should be able to make enough for them to be able to survive on when they move out of the family home and have to cope standing on their own two feet.

Every culture is different. So people learn at a different pace. I worked in a preschool (ages 3-5) for under privileged children. We taught them simple things like making sandwiches and always washing their hands and using safe tools in the kitchen, because sometimes at home these children had to take care of themselves.

Parent did encourage and teach me to be good person, but mistake was by me. Now i wish my mum can taste my food. I will train my children as what you said. I was still young then when I started cooking.I am just 10 years old I was the one who cooks our rice, then I cook our soup,a sort of mixed vegetables, yet all the family
members have to eat it.I was always attending the kitchen when my mother cooks and that is where I got to know more tasty dishes.

Well, actually, the dishes simple, since my childhood I was always able to prepare. I must also say that, although I am a man aged 37, unmarried, no boyfriend and then I still live at home, I like to do housework.
I am able to live alone, spending needed for eating and being very careful not to go over budget.
I emphasize however that, I can prepare the dishes, not many, but especially the pasta dishes are my "little" specialty.

I started to cook when i was 7 because my parents went to work and we, my bro and i, had to cook. I cooked lunch, he cooked dinner.
First i just cook simple dishes only, boiling is easy way to cook, then with the time, i know to cook more dishes...

Hi loveshop, I was in grade 3 when I learned how to cook rice but when I was in high school in I learned how to bake and cook some dishes with the help of my teacher. After that I started to collecting recipes and experimenting dishes. Then I asked of my grandmother adviced since was a great cook about tips and secret in cooking, luckily she told me everything she knows and its a big help to me. I am very happy that I learned how to cook, now I can eat everything that I want without spending much.

The first time, I cooked food was about 13.
At that time, I was easy to feel hungry, so after school, I went back to my home, and found some food in the fridge and cooked it by myself. The food made by myself is not delicious. But it made my stomach comfortable. My mom was worried about whether I can use the tool in a correct way.

I had learned to do some cooking when I was 6-10yrs old. Simple stuff like making cookies or making myself a can of pasta. I really started doing more cooking when I was a teenager and it was expected of me to have a meal ready when my Mom came home from work. Though I'll say I expanded my horizons with being home with my kids to make even more different things for my family than my Mother ever made and trying something new as my budget + the kids preferences in food allows.

I didn't grow up with any of the men in my life cooking. I lived at my grandparent's and my grandmother was the best cook. I helped her in the kitchen probably around nine or ten years of age. She showed me how to cut up a chicken and such basics as that. I started really cooking full meals after I got married also. I remember my first dish was a Shrimp Curry. I loved shrimp and knew nothing of curry at the time(about nineteen years old) and I fixed it once and never had it again. It wasn't until later in my life that my last husband(won't say how many I have had) that I learned that guys really could cook. He taught me some things. He had been a professional cook.

I started at 19 but I think not only it was late, it was lazy and I'm glad I started to be curious and kind of ashamed I could only do pasta, LOL.
But whatever we can learn for our own good it's always better early. And I don't think only women should cook early, everyone should, I'm against only a woman cooking in a marriage for example. Equal rights

I can't remember when I learned how to cook since mom used to do all the cooking. I am not a good cook and I think I will never learn to be a good one because it just isn't my forte. I always tend to prepare the simple meals because even with a cook book and specific instructions, I just can't get to cook like other women. I sure envy those who can cook wonderful meals. All I know is how to fry and broil.

I began learning to cook when I was eight or nine years old. Many times we also learn cooking in school between 13-18 years old as well. In the evenings after school many nights during the week I cooked the evening meal. My kids did a little bit of cooking when they were growing up and helped me out some, but not as much as I did. My daughter is thirty two years old and lives a long ways away from me. She likes to cook and she likes to make pies and bread.

I did some cooking under the survelliance of my mother when I was about 14. But then I never did much until I got married when I was 18 years old. I did not cook all the time, but I had to start learning. We had then a maid that helped, but she didnĀ“t show up every day so I had to see what to do. I learned the basics very quickly. But now I like to make my own recipes and have fun being a very good cook.

I started cooking when I was in grade 6, I think. Hmm.. I was 12 back then. I am the eldest of our family and we do not have any helper at home. Actually, no one taught me how to cook. That's why I am not that good. But I know I can do practices. My mom and dad usually do the cooking at our house. And when they are not at the house, they usually give us money to buy ready made foods. Or sometimes we order foods in fast food chains. That's why I neglect to practice cooking.

Hi,
I learned to cook when I was 25 years old. I have two elder sisters and I am only brother of them. So my mother and sisters used to cook together. After my sisters' marrige I learn to cook. Sometimes I had to cook something when my mother was ill. But at that time also I used to prepare tea and rice and dal and potato vegetable. But now I can cook anything as my wife can not cook because of her illness. My son and I try to cook with her directions if our cook is absent.

I am the youngest in my family too. I cook only sometimes when I love to do some not-so- common dishes. I cooked first when I was 21. Since then I keep cooking maximum twice a month. And how did I learn? Simple. If I like some dish , I search it on the net, download its recipe and cook. Till now, all the recipes worked very good and my family and friends appreciated.
