See the others cats, they have a long tail but my cat, she has a very short tail, it is 1 cm only. What i know is cats need a tail for keeping balance when they jumps. My cat is ordinary cat except a very short tail. I remember my cat's brother and sister have a long tails when i caught her from the previous owner.
Currently my cat is 2 months age only but i am worried a bit about her because of her short tail. Is it affect on her activities? Will she get hurt if she jumps from a high place to ground?

I think my friend, if you can train her while she is still small, she may get used living without her tail. Your cat is very special, you must take care her always and she needs your care. She also worried when you feel worried. If your happy and worry free, she gets strength and confidence from you. Speaking of short tailed from long tailed though both were normal but there are some differences with the life span.

Thank you for your sharing.
ya, currently she is a kitten then she is so naughty for playing, running around on the floor only. She did jump but not to high place yet..She slips her body from the high place to the floor, not jumping at all.
I really love her and play with her everyday.... Do you have a cat? Have you ever had a cat with a short tail?

Oh, your cat loves bread? i wish my cat loves bread too then it is easy for me to feed her, don't need to cook fish for her more.
I love to see cats can swim, it is so special...my cat, i take shower for her only then i am not sure that she can swim...but i may try to let her in a pond later to see whether she can swim or not...

Yes my friend I have a cat and he loves hanging from high bars and do jumping from our neighbors' roof tops. It is kind of weird that he loves to eat bread instead of the fish meats. I had a cat once with a short tail, she don't like to jump high places and weird that she normally can swim even though she has a fur ball-like tail. She was a cheerful strong cat and I really miss her.

Some cat breeds have extremely short tails. Did she have this short tail when you got her or did she have some sort of accident? If she had this tail when you got her, it's more likely that she's a member of one of these cat breeds with no tail so there's nothing to be worried about. Even if she had an accident, I do believe that the breeds of cat without a tail are evidence that cats can do just fine without them.

She was born with that short tail, no accident at all. In the beginning time, i didn't notice it, i think her tail will be longer. But right now it is still very short, just 1 cm and i don't think it can be longer more. She can't wave her tail because it is too short.

Well, cats don't really NEED to wave their tails. They just look cute when they do, and you can tell when they're irritated with you. Lol

I think that you have been well answered here. Your cat is as she should be. She was born that way. Manx cats are born that way, and then there is a breed called a bobtail as well. She will do whatever she decides she wants to do and since she has never had a tail it will not affect her balance.

I didnt know she is a manx cat because i haven't seen any cat like her yet. I just remember my mom' cats have long tails, then i see back my cat...her tail is 1 cm only, hix, that why i was worried for her.
Now, i think she is a manx cat type and i won't worry for her activities with that short tail more.
Thank you so much.

Your cat will be fine. Some breeds naturally do not have long tails. There are also large cats in the wild that do not have long tails, like the bob cat that is native to Oklahoma and northwestern Texas.

Cats who don't have tails adapt quit easily to it there are even breeds of cats who are born with out tails such as many cats but otherwise having no tail shouldn't effect anything she does as she will learn to compensate for it just like I have a cat with three legs and most people don't even notice as she gets along just like all my other cats do

Hey ryanong,
I think it will grow when the time passes and it doesn't matter whether he has a short has a long time. Your cat will be fine to do everything with you.

Thank you...i feel ok for my cat now.
Currently i keep her inside and she just runs around on the floor only. I wonder whether he gets hurt or not if jumping from a high place to the ground...
Should i put her in a high place and see how she jumps with a short tail?

There's a breed of cats called Manx cats, that have no tail at all. It doesn't affect the way they keep their balance, or run or jump. not at all. I think your lovely cat will be just fine with her 1cm tail.
