hi mylotters, Last day I went to hospital to accompany my sister and nephew for their monthly check up my sister went to her obygn first and then instructed me to bring my nephew to his pedia. Before the assistant call us my sister went back along with his husband as we entered the room I lay down my nephew to the bed so the doctor can check him. Upon checking him I was sitting at the corner of the room the doctor asked me "ARE YOU THE NANNY? "() I was not offended but I don't answered her back maybe because I was surprised by the question my sister butt in and answered her No, she is my sister and look at me trying to figure out my reaction. I just smiled at her. When we are out of the clinic she brought up the issue again she told me that doctor is really like that, I just told her I don't mind it there are people who is tactless regardless how professional they are. I am happy to take care of my nephew it doesn't matter if someone call me a Nanny I just don't care. Do you have same experience like mine? happy mylotting

I haven't encountered something like this before but the Dr. should have asked if you are a family member before asking if you are the nanny in case you said you are not someone related to the kid. That was a bad move and I would feel bad if that was done to me. I'll surely ask him if I look like a nanny before answering his question hahahaha..

Hi bhaby! I think the Doctor was insane in assuming that you could be nanny. He should have first asked you - 'Are you a family member?', before assuming you someone else. Let it be. You need not bother about his wisdom and should continue to take care of your nephew. Many years ago, when my sister in law (my wife's sister) gave birth to a baby girl we went to visit her in the hospital immediately on getting the news. My sister in law was still in the labour room and my co-brother in law was also busy in taking care of her. The baby girl was shifted to the room before her mother. As me and my wife were just appreciating and enjoying the happy moment of arrival of the newborn, one of the nurses asked me - "Are you the father of the baby?". I had to answer in negative. Perhaps, her intention would have been to ask for few bucks as tip from the 'father' of the new born.

Hi bhaby, haven't encountered someone mistaken me as a Nanny, but I do remember some incident when I was mistaken as a saleslady in a small grocery in my town. I don't mind it too, I just smiled and said nope. I also sometimes thinks someone as sales guy/lady but it was embarrassing if I came to know that I was wrong. Well, I hope the doctor who asked you felt embarrassed upon realizing he was wrong to think you are the nanny.

hi enelym, My sister told me that she also experienced the same the first time she check my nephew she asked my sister's hubby where is the mommy. She thinks again that my sister is the Nanny. I think she has a problem when it comes identifying a person. thanks for the response happy mylotting

You have an admirable qualities for sure! I don't have any experience like that. But I don't know if I could control my temper for such situations. I don't like tactless people as I am very careful with my words also not to hurt or offend other people. So I really expect to be treated the same but if course it is not always possible since we all have different personalities. In times like that, we should think first why it is wise not to make the issue much bigger.

hi jfo, She is lucky that I am with my nephew somehow I am starting to loosen my temper cause I know though he is just a month old he can hear things around him and I am avoiding to say unpleasant words when he is around. Besides that Doctor doesn't deserve too much attention from me thanks for the response happy mylotting

Yes I also experience the same but not as nanny. We were eating in a fast food chain here in our country. We came from work so I am still wearing a uniform. Suddenly, on my way to the restroom, an old woman asked me to clean the table that they will be sitting. I just looked at her, smile and leave. Hahaha. Another is that I was mistaken by kids to be a salesman in a garment sale we went last month. They asked me howmuch is the price of the bag they are looking at and it it sells in a 3-pcs set. I just answer "I don't know". Then their mother told the kids, "hey, he is also a customer here" and smiled back at me. I smiled in return.

I do not have an experience like that but how nice you are by not reacting like others do like giving a bad look to the doctor or something like that. Anyway, don't think about it. Many are so tactless and sometimes rude to other people and its up to us how to react to them. Good day!
