Facebook: Social or Anti-Social

May 17, 2012 11:50am CST
On the news early this year, I have seen that they say that Facebook is anti-social, but I do not believe them. I have a facebook account, and my friends on it are friendly. So what do you guys think?

Facebook is just useless but it kind of somewhat addictive . Even I use Facebook and I visit it at least 10 times daily . But then Facebook changed the way we socialize : in the wrong way Though it does have its positive aspects , the negative ones overweight the positive ones . Facebook has been brewing problems all over the world since its inception a few years ago . Facebook is ok for time pass but then I don't use it to say what I feel because that has already got me into serious trouble .

Troubles on facebook arise not from others but from your deeds . You could land yourself into trouble if you are not careful about what you are posting on facebook . Also beware that photos of you which you post on facebook can be misused . Also never make friends with unknown people on facebook . That could get you into trouble .

Well, if someone told that facebook is anti-social.Its their own fault, pick a wrong guy in a wrong place to be their friends.

I don't even know where you heard this from. Facebook is a social site. Maybe some people in it are anti-social, but facebook is just a site so it can't even be social or anti social.

Before Facebook, people would actually email me if they wanted to say hi, or call me. Now, they just don't bother. They know that I'll update Facebook, and if they really need to say something specific to me, they'll send a Facebook message. I miss meaningful conversations.

Hi leave61 ! According to me Face book is an antisocial networking media because it come to be seem the peoples are getting more separated from the society after being introduced of such tools,as compare to 1990's the people are more depending on such tool as means for social interaction. I always try to meet my friends in real life, outdoors but they spend the entire time on their cell phones or face book. It's easy to feel socially isolated in the 21st century.

I think it is anti-social. If you really think about it, the Facebook trend is starting to get out of hand. Instead of physically going out and hanging out with friends, people are "socializing" online. If I wanted to catch up with a friend I haven't seen or spoken to in a long time, I used to give them a call on the phone. Now, I simply just check their status updates. It also goes even deeper than that. When I do hang out with my friends, they seem to be so involved with updating their statuses, or taking pictures and posting it to their Facebook, that they don't appreciate that moment that they are in. I think it's fine in moderation, but there is nothing social about only communicating with people behind your computer screen.
