God wants better for us

I am reading a Joel Osteen book called " your best life now" and I have to be honest it has touched me deeply. He talks about God wanting us to not just be mediocore, and I love that because he is saying for us to strive for more. But not just for personal reasons strive for more that way whey you get to the top you are able to give back. And that would be so amazing to be able to put that big bill in the offering plate on Sunday and never think twice about it. He talks about our image to God is something that we need to have ourselves. We need to see ourselves through God's eyes. That we are wonderful amazing and capable of achieving our dreams. And for us to live in God's favor. To believe that everything that happens is because God wants it to happen. Something as small as getting a front parking space in a crowded parking lot, and when you get this favor praise him and praise him greatly. And if you don't get that front parking spot you still praise him because you know that he has you in that back parking spot for a reason.

Joel Osteen writes some good books. I have enjoyed reading his writing for years and believe that what he is putting out there for us is just the way it is suppose to be. Have you read any Joyce Myers books? She is good also.

I have read one of her books and watch her on TV. and while I like her. I have trouble letting her inspire me like Joel Osteen, because she seems very harsh, and I have always had a hard time having a good attitude until I learned about Joel Osteen. I have a pretty cruddy background, and I like how he makes everything so POSITIVE, and Joyce is positive, but there was something she said on one of her sermons that said " if you can't forgive others then God won't forgive you" and with my past I have a hard time forgiving so the idea of me not being able to get into heaven because my own mother made my life miserable when I was younger and I can not forgive her and I don't forsee it in the future. And Osteen is just kind of "even though your past was cruddy you can overcome it, because God wants more for you"

There is a huge difference between the two of them and I understand where you are coming from. It is up to God what happens with each of us and not the ones like Joyce.

Hi SissyRose, I was trying to comprehend in my mind what possibly could be ok about being in the back parking lot and the only memory I could conjure up was running hand in hand and laughing and anticipating how great it was going to be to get in from the powering rain and then see someone else look up from way back there watching us jumping over the puddles trying not to get our feet too wet and smiling at us and all we were trying to do was to make our way to the dollar store because that is about the only store we can afford but we are happy just the same. We were some sight like a couple of drowning cats but sure not mediocre. I like listening to Joel, “first name basis”, though he doesn’t know me, I know him and admire his spirit every time I see him on the screen he makes me think that he too has problems like when he was told he was not doing what was right because he only read the good parts of the bible but I am glad to see he is still reading the good parts and with a smile too.
