I have decided to 1000 calories a day. I am on a weight loss journey and this is the next path it is on. I have decided to write it down on the dry earse board on the ice box so I can see how many more cals I have for that day. And so far it is working well. Does anyone else do things like this?

1000 calories is not very much. I suggest that you just cut back so many a day for a week then the next week cut it down more. Give your body a chance to get adapted to the less food. You can do this in time. Don't starve yourself. Have you ever tried a grapefruit diet?

I would recommend to not worry about calories as much but worry more on the quality of food that you are eating. Try to avoid processed things including bleached flour, processed sugar, perservatives, hydrogenated oils, and anything else that you can't pronounce or identify what they are. Also try to avoid empty calories, what I refer to as this is eating a lot of grain and also processed snacks, you want to try and eat food that has a high vitamin and mineral content.
Try to incorporate more vegetables and fruits in your diet and try to eat more seafood as well. The best thing you can do for yourself is educate yourself on proper nutrition and you won't have to worry as much about how many calories you are taking in.

When I was young I used to try to eat less calories thinking this would help me lose weight. Actually I have found over the years that eating 5-6 small meals or snacks actually does better. It keeps the metabolism going and helps me lose the weight. Eating less calories freaked your body out and you actually end up gaining weight over time. Exercise ofcourse helps to add to this because you use up the calories. I would break my fast in the morning with fruit, drink plenty of water to wash toxins and sludge out of my system. Lots of fruits and vegetables and as little dairy and breads as possible. And it helps to cut out pop and fast food. Over time just cutting back on pop can help you lose quite a bit of weight. Good luck to you!

I think it is quite difficult to get each 1000 calories on each day because how can you get the amount of calories in each food. I think you must get a doctor to get the right amount of food to get 1000 calories a day. I think this will help you to get 1000 calories quite easily.

I've read about this...
From "burn the fat feed the muscle"
It says that you better split up your meals into 5-6 times so eat small every 3 hours...
it wil boost up your metabolism...

Thank you for this. I usually eat 3 meals an 2 snacks, and even with a low cal diet it is possible but hard

yup, it's a bit difficult..
and it's better to lose fat from work out...
so do jogging or swim to burn the fat...
if you cut too much calorie at once the body will adapted to the situation and make your metabolism slower and it will also take energy from the muscle, so you will lose both of it...

I have recently joined this site called Sparkpeople.com and it has some really easy to use trackers and I am liking this way of dieting. I have always had a hard time getting motivated and sticking to it so i hope this site I am using will benefit me more then the ways I have tried in the past.

In my attempt to lose a wee bit of weight,I read about the number of calories one should have as the minimum. I think 1000 calories is abit too litlle. you won't have enough for snacks at all. I believe the bare minimum is 1200 calories. The best is to check with a BMR calculator how much calories you can take to lose weight slowly. I you do not get your bare minimum, Your body cannot function properly and it will go into starvation mode. The next time you eat, your body will store fats because it thinks that it will not have enough. So be careful with too few calorie intake.
Recording number of calories is a great idea. It will help you track your progress and you will get a better idea of different types of food and their calories. It will help you select more healthier choices too.

In the past I have tried calorie controlled diets but I always find tat they are not so easy to stick to and to maintain a healthy weight loss. I have lost 110 pounds over 14 months and managed to keep it off (and lose a couple more pounds) for the last 3 months by changing my eating habits. I eat three regular meals a day but eat only healthy and unprocessed foods; I have protein, carbohydrates and fruit and/or vegetables with each meal, I watch my portion control so that I am not overeating and I drink plenty of water. I now find that my whole attitude to food has changed and my diet doesn't rule my life. Good luck with your weight loss journey - I do hope that it works for you.
