Euromillion's jackpot has reached 51 million pounds this week! It was not that big since a long time ago.
For those who don't know, Euromillions is a lottery game played in europe in Spain, France and UK. The numbers are the same for everyone, so the winner could be anywhere.
There's only a difference between UK Euromillions and the rest. They made the ticket 50 pence more expensive than it used to be and it added the "Millionaire raffle". They select one of the tickets between all the British tickets bought and it wins 1 million pounds automatically. Players from France and Spain don't count for millionaire raffle.
This friday's euromillions will have 18 millionaire raffles instead of one, so there are slightly more chances to be one of them. But of course, this will make people to buy more tickets...
I think it is an strategy to make British people but more tickets, to there are more possibilities that the jackpot will stay in UK. What do you think??

I think that the raffle is definitely to make more people buy tickets; that is the whole point of any sort of extra prize incentive that there might be with a lottery or anything like that. I don't think it is really necessary though, because people will buy tickets for this particular game whether the winners are going to be in the UK or not. We are in such a state economically at the moment that I don't think it would matter where the winner was from, as long as there was some possibility that our ticket was going to be the winning one.

I'm very interested in playing lottery games. But luck plays major role. However they are many other lottery scams like cococola lucky draw.

I did not knew that you had this "Millionaire raffle" in UK. Euromillions is played not in 3, but in 11 countries, including Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and I think that many national lotteries have added other games to Euromillions : in France for 1 Euro more you can play with an Euromillions ticket to a game called Joker+ with a Jackpot of 200000 Euros. It is less interesting than 1 million pounds for 50 pence, but it is every week, and you can even take a subscription. Indeed the subscription is another strategy to make people play more, like your 18 millionnaire raffles. There is only one chance/116531800 to win the Euromillions jackpot, so the only true winners every week are the states.

What an exciting event for all the gamblers out there! and what a big encouragement to all the people who don't normally gamble but aspire to be a millionaire. For sure many people are now in panic buying of tickets no matter how expensive it is. But this is gambling, everyone wants the jock pot. So why only few people could be happy and get all the money of other gamblers? sadly many take the risk of loosing their money for the sake of the possibility of becoming one of the millionaires.
