Food and Bonding

When I meet up with friends or relatives, we always start with food. Food has always been a part of our family bonding and friends bonding. We talk about anything under the sun, catch up with what's going on with our lives and etc. When we meet at a resto, we usually meet at a pizza place like Shakey's Pizza Hut or Yellow Cab or burger junctions like McDonald's. Or even at a seafood restos or coffee shops. =) For me, food really plays a part in bringing people together, for celebrations like birthdays, weddings, or just celebrating life. =) How about you? What are your bonding moments with your friends or loved ones? Do you also go on food bonding with them? =)

Socialite? - No, I was never a socialite, but when younger, I was a deeply social person and lover of clubs and parties; these days, I tend not to be overly social. Although I do have good friends, and am close to my family.
I'm not the most social of people, due to a possible chronic low-grade depressive condition; although there are times I do meet up with friends, and this sometimes involves taking food in a restaurant. And it is enjoyable to me despite my social anxiety issues, in fact so much so that on the most recent occasion it occurred, I found myself not wanting the long lunch to end. So I can enjoy eating food in restaurants; although I'd say I'm very much not a social eater. I prefer taking walks while socialising, or even taking coffee or tea. But as I say, I am capable of enjoying this...even to the point of wanting it to go on.

Thank you for sharing CarlHalling. I do enjoy taking walks with friends or family as form of bonding, or having coffee at home or a friend's house too. Anything that works. =)

a pleasant day chan2zexy, Same as your way of bonding moments, at my end here, dining into a restaurant is also a part of our bonding moments. Especially during Sunday. Wherein, after the mass, me and my family always go into a simple fast food chair or even in a small restaurant, catching up what has been done for past days and ended up ordering and eating our favorite meals. Thus, eating and dining in are also a part of our bonding moments. Same thing when I am meeting up my friends, even my bestfriend, that eating up on a fast food or any food court is a part of our moments.

That's good to know airasheila and thank you for sharing your story. =) Even inviting friends over for lunch or dinner at home is also a nice bonding with them. =)

Food bonding. I like that term. Celebrations, parties or any gathering are always associated with food. even when bonding with close families, like watching the tv, there will be snacks to munch.

I feel that people in general are more likely to group/meet if there is food involved. I do, because if some one you don't really care for is there or if conversations steers toward a subject I don't like, I can always pop some food into my mouth and by the time I am done chewing, someone else has already taken over the conversation...lol..:-)

I go food bonding with my friends sometimes.. i am closer to my friends than my relatives.. We usually eat at Mcdonalds, or just in schol- we share food, it is really fun since if there is food we can just stay anywhere and talk about anything.
