At least 26 000 ancient manuscripts from Indonesia now in the Library of Leiden University, The Netherlands.
"The number of ancient manuscripts in Indonesia is very much abroad, the number 26 000 was not added other historical documents that exist in the UK, Malaysia and other countries," said the head of the National Library of Sri Sulasih,.
The amount is considered very much. National Library now has only 10 300 ancient manuscripts. In other words, important documents are now in the Leiden 2.5 times more than those who are in their home country.
"We're hard to restore manuscripts abroad to Indonesia because of overseas libraries obtained by purchasing the historic paper, meaning they are investing. It takes a huge fund to buy back the original script," he said.
According to Sri, the library at Leyden gave Indonesia only one script copies the original script while still in the store in Dutch libraries.
Now that made ??the National Library, among others, continue to explore and collect a variety of important historical documents of the area.
"We ask the library to gather historical records, even if you have to buy it," he said.
what do you guys think about this?
