Its a popular belief that girls don't play video games so far I have found that to be true I'm not saying that I agree with it but I kinda have to because most of the girl gamers I have seen are like really not into it I mean they rarely play games and even when they do they don't take them seriously .
I would just love to get a response from a hard core girl gamer on the issue to prove this wrong but the chances of that happening seem a lil' skinny so I'll try not to get my hopes up high.
any opinions are welcomed!

My daughter plays video games, and seriously. Chances are that you wont meet many girls because they are busy playing and not wanting to talk to you. Don't take that wrong! It isn't an insult but a fact of gaming life - the game is more important than you!

I really don't have anything to say to purplealabaster . As for petersum , the basis for my conclusion isn't the fact that no girls wanna sit around talking about games.
But when we are playing games online for eg: CS , COD or some nfs , all of our opponents or teammates are guys and when I say all I mean ALL.
And I don't think I've ever missed asking any of the gamers their gender unless their names made it obvious .
So trust me the girl to guy gamer ratio is like one to a thousand ( at least ).
and people talk about stuff like this in gaming conventions that gaming doesn't get main stream success and most people stereo-typically assume video game fans to be nerdy couch potatoes that don't have a social life , why can't we think of video games as movies , TV shows and regular entertainment that you can enjoy without giving up your social life .
You might think that I'm reading too much into what you typed in but that's the whole point of your response : "the game is more important than you"
Now you don't have to be a world class athlete have fun while playing regular sports , in the same way you can have a good time playing V-games regardless of your age , gender or even interests without giving up all your time for just doing that.
and finally , I respect your opinion and if any of this seemed rude I'm sorry , I was trying really hard not to do that.

Well I don't think that this myth actually stands nowadays, maybe in the 90's. But I believe that girls are not that hooked into gaming as boys are, in large numbers girls are more of a "casual gamer" style while boys are more of a consistent gamer or even hardcore gamer at times. But I think that changes as time moves on since gaming becomes a part of entertaining more and more.

I'm a girl and I'm a hardcore gamer. I'm 25 years old and been gaming since I was 5 years old. I play different type of games from FPS, RPG, Action/Adventure, Fighting, etc. I love talking about video games also. Hell I have 30 Platinum trophies on my PS3 account and still counting.
There are girls playing video games and I have seen them playing Call of Duty games, but they usually stick with one game or genre that they like. It's just rare to find a hardcore female gamer like myself who plays different type of genres. Probably in the future there will be more hardcore female gamers.

I don't play PC games since getting a gaming computer is expensive. I haven't bought Max Payne 3 yet, but I will for sure when the prices go lower and play it on my PS3. I love the first two Max Payne games on the PS2, so for sure I'm getting it. As for multiplayer component, I hope it doesn't suck, but at the same time I think they shouldn't add it cause Max Payne is a story base game and not a game to add multiplayer. Of course most games now are adding multiplayer since it's hot in the gaming industry. It's like Assassin's Creed trilogy, it's mostly a story base game, but they screw it up when they added multiplayer to AC: Brotherhood. The single player was so short and the multiplayer was horrible due to the fact I have to wait 30 minutes to find a lobby to play in.
What do you think of the multiplayer component on Max Payne 3?

Yeah, Hopefully there will be that future and I must say , This is just the way I wanted this discussion to be responded to. You seem more into gaming than most guys, and twenty years, that is extremely impressive.
Do you Play PC games ? Have you tried Max Payne 3? If no , are you planning to ? and if yes, did you like the multiplayer component? and What are your thoughts on Max being bald for most of the game?

Well I like video games a lot but I'm not really into RPGs, those kind of games makes me dizzy, but God of War is another story, I flipping love that game. The type of games I really like are arcade games (yeah, I love battles and matches), car race, motor cross, skateboarding, sports and more I guess; and I'm also trying to finish Rockband now. But I think I'm not a hardcore though although I stay up very late at night when I play and you can't talk to me when I'm playing. ^^
I guess me being a hardcore, would be possible if I'll acquire my own gaming platforms, I don't like playing in the computer 'coz I'd rather surf the net, I use my brother's PSP. I played GTA in my PC back then, but I lost my Saved game when the computer was reformatted when it broke down because of an infuriating virus, and I kinda lost my interest in it after.
But anyway, I wanna know what's the standards to be actually called a hardcore..

well I just used it as a vague term , I mean for me it really doesn't have a proper definition.
anyways which GTA were you talking about? what games do you usually play on PSP?
are there any other consoles or devices you would consider , handheld or otherwise? are you a guy or a girl(sorry cant make that out by your name)
And finally what exactly do you look for in a video game you might set your mind to finish?
P.S.:sorry for the string of question I just had one but then I couldn't stop , don't know why

yeah , the topic is pretty good but too bad you're the only one who has responded to my open-ended response to your response.
anyways , about GTA San Andreas , you can always download saved games and start off from where you left off. I realize that won't be the same but it is the only alternative to starting over , which can be quite fun itself(I mean starting over can be fun).I would go with later its a pretty big game but if you're just interested in finishing off the story missions then a 15 hours should be enough to finish the game, finishing it 100% including the supplementary missions and the hidden extras could take up to three times longer.
There are no PSP versions of SA but there is a GTA Chinatown Wars that was released on the PSP about two years ago.
If you're looking for the next PSP or in other words the best consumer handheld Sony has released an awesome successor to it but its not called PSP anymore its called
PS Vita it was released last year in December in some parts of the world and by February 2012 the entire world , it comes with a rear touch pad and touch screen controls and its 3G compatible that's right it has a SIM card slot it looks quite similar to PSP the WiFi has been upgraded and lots more that I'm not going to talk about coz that might lengthen the comment too much.
In short its the most powerful handheld gaming device yet.
So I think I'm just gna chose this as the best response and put an end to the discussion unless you have anything else to say.

I know a few girls that are into video games (some more than me and I qualified for clan compete and the hardcore pro circuit team) but most of the time they emerge around games like assassins creed! This is a very bad place to be looking for serious gamers I just saw a thread that said something like "My friend gave me a present called the Sims 3 and I really enjoyed it" and somewhere later something like "I went into a local store that sells computer games and they told me about what they call 'expansion packs'..." this is not a good place to be asking. Get better, find a local competition make it to district, then state, then regional, the girl guy thing levels as you move up (pun intended), no doubt you'll find some there,I did.

I would not necessarily consider myself a hardcore gamer, because I do have a life and responsibilities that I attend to on a regular basis. On the other hand, I do love my video games, and I play them whenever I get the chance. I have friends that come over, and that is what we do all day ... just hang out and play video games, so I would say that I am a pretty serious gamer, even though I do try to have balance in my life.

And apparently there was something in my response that was offensive or something for you to skip it, especially since I am the only one that you skipped, Billutheguy.

Well, I know some girls who are a serious gamer that she even buys credits or items for the in game. But I can say that there are quite a few lady gamers compared to guy gamers. And sometimes, gaming can be the cause of breakups between guys and girls!

I've never heard of that happening , but thanks for sharing . But you know a lot of couples got married because of the online role-playing MMO World of Warcraft, in fact they got married in the game and got along so well that they decided to get married in real life .
don't know the exact story in each case but that's the common story I know of .

Hello! First of all, I am a girl :)
I used to play some video games when I was younger, I was playing tomb raider from my brother's computer and some other games that I can't remember right now. Now I don't play any more, only occasionally I might play a strategy game or a simulation game.
I think guys have a special relationship with video games. My boyfriend is almost 35 years old and he is still a fan of an online game with battles where he makes a live team with his friends and they play for hours on their days off. My brother is always playing playstation when he has free time (he is also older than me).
I never understood why guys prefer to stay at home and play video games with their friends instead of going out!

well that's because its much more convenient and yet (in most cases) more fun . and you can go on for hours because it doesn't make you all that tired and most of all because you're using the one organ of your body that is more supreme than any other organism :the human brain
sure you do that doing other stuff too but in case of video games you are using it more than any thing else

Girl gamers DO exist. Theres so many girls out there that love and play video games just as much or even more than I do. The problem is that theres a lot of girls who only play video games because they think its "cute" or because they know a lot of guys will want to talk to them if they play a game. Every time a girl thinks that she's a gamer simply because she took a picture with a controller, she throws dirt on the name of every girl that is a serious gamer and can prove it instead of talking about it all day. So YES girl gamers DO exist but you have to be able to separate the real gamer from the fake gamer. Also when you do come in contact with a girl gamer, don't try to treat her different or feel like you have to hold her hand through games. Play against her the same way you would play against your friends(just don't say anything too crazy). Also remember to have fun because it's a game. Lol have fun.

I'm a hardcore girl gamer and proud! Haha. I play COD, GTA, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy (7 is the best), Saints Row, Pokemon, Tomb Raider and Dynasty Warriors.
I love it so much but I often get judged for it. That won't stop me though. It's not like I'm doing anything wrong!

hello,
Who said that girls dont play videogames. I have seen girls play videogames. They play a lot of videogames. I have seen my girlfriend play videogames and I must say that I have seen many girls play videogames better than boys. They can play those games really well. My girlfriend always tell me to search for new games on the internet. She plays more games than me. This is a wrong belief among all the people that girls dont play videogames. really I have seen many hardcore gamer among girls.

WHOA! I'm a female gamer and am in college for this. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is one of my favorites, as well as the silent hill series ... Believe me, I am so hard core a gamer that when it was suggested I get Katamari, I really balked, I mean, a game about rolling things up? Oh please, for real, lol...but in reality I actually liked it, so don't hold that against me :) ... But I am a very hard core gamer, I know of many women who are, they just are in the minority and have no one to play with like the guys do. Resident Evil 4, some of the best environments in any game ever made, really really immersive. So yea, we are out there, we just are forced to be more 'loner' as we do not have hordes of friends who are into it. I'm also into Mangas and Anime. Try to talk to a woman about Battle Royale, both the manga and Film (NOT THE SEQUEL, please never watch the sequel, that is the worst film ever made). Like I said, women like myself are basically on our own. We are out there, but we are alone, usually.
