Dear mylot friends:
Those of us who are interested in cricket support individual teams and spend hours together before TV watching the matches. But the link I am posting below tells about match fixing in IPL also,.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/IPL-hat-trick-Fixing-row-brawl-and-now-molestation-charge/articleshow/13277650.cms
This makes me conclude we should not waste time in watching live cricket but only read about the results.
Cricket -- a lot of money is inside it and a lot of things which normal people may not like/do are also there.
But every day IPL match brings some interest in life for retired people like me--we want to know what? what?
Now -- no tension. IPL might have been fixed in favour of X team by Y Team and agreed to by Z team and second by YY team.
good day.

Many cricket lovers have expected and cautioned that IPL would bring damages to clean cricket. Its spirit is based on money and showmanship. I am a cricket fan and haven't seen any IPL matches by TV for last 3 years. I just read reports about it as to know what is happening in that type of cricket.

Well spot fixing was done by players who are not playing IPL 5 mostly. Monish Mishra and Shirander are two players who were involved in different string operations. Both have been suspended. But if big players like Sachin, Dravid, Kohli, Sehwag, Zaheer, etc gets involved in match fixing or spot fixing then we need to feel that most of the matches are fixed. Only one player cannot change the match alone, so, match fixing will happen if more than one player from same team gets involved in match fixing. So, I feel the matches are clean and played with spirit. Spot Fixing is something which is hard to find unless the player agrees that I have done spot fixing. For this team managements have to monitor the player without his knowledge. Even the private channel which has done the sting operation has said that only the players whom they showed in the videos are corrupt and remaining players did not get involved in these incidents even though they were offered some big money.
The case of Luke Pomersbach is not related to cricket, what I mean is that it is something happened off field. A cricket player to is a human being and he too will do crimes. He is not a saint or god to be very clean. So, what Luke has done is nothing to do with cricket in my view. It is outside case and law and courts will take action on him if he is guilty.
Finally in my view this IPL 5 was interesting but I personally feel that this tournament must be shortened so that we get interest to watch the matches. Anything over is always makes anyone disinterested.
One more disappointing aspect is that teams like Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors and Kings Xi and RR did not spend much money on players that is why these teams are dependent on few individual players and if they fail then these teams lose the games. IPL Committee must see that all the teams are made to spend money and buy a good team, in this way we can see all the teams give good competition and not only one team dominates.

I am not saying the fees of these players must increased. I am saying that let these small players are monitored my IPL officials and BCCI, so that they do not get into these controversies and spoil their careers. If an X player and y player play for same Ranji team. X has played one game for India and Y did not play for India. According to present rules x will be auction for in auctions process whereas y will come up some base price and he will be bought in the last. Both a talented but one is not getting good money, so some weak minded players will always fall in the hands of match fixers or spot fixers and spoil their careers and life. So, that is the case which is happening. Why so complications in payments structure of IPL I never understood. Hope for best.

Even the players themselves will not know how much are they getting. It is only their auditors will know.
The way results are coming indicates there may be some understanding at different levels -- team level, player level etc. no proof. guess only

already the players are paid huge amounts. you want it to be further increased. your point that the number of matches should be reduced is right. that way the interest will be increased.
I can see you consider IPL 5 very interesting for you and it is fine. have a nice day.

Guess we are always #1 in all those activities that brings bad name to our country, here in my city, people were playing i mean gambling on who will win, you might be aware of some trader who earn money from such stuff always..
Well do you remember, when there was no tv, workers in offices kept transistor radios in drawers and heard the commentary as if they were mad!!!!!!
Have a nice day ahead.

Professor Sir:
Glad to note you have returned after treatment (drips) from hospital.
Yes Sir, cricket matches are being fixed and gambling is done by a section of people --About thirty/forty years ago people use to listen to radio - yes by keeping the transistor inside the table drawer. After seeing all these things happening in cricket-- sometimes i feel that it is not worth watching a tutored match.

IPL was introduced to to create a platform to all the players to show their talents in T20 format. One of the main reason why ipl was hailed upon the globe was it creates an opportunity for the people to enjoy the maximums but it had turned out as a way to enrich the pocket with the enjoyment with girls.
Really we people need to get such bad players out of the game. So that ipl do not face any such bad comments.

yes. people connected with the scam directly or indirectly should be taken out and the cost of players should be kept minimum and maximum like this so that the cost of game will come down and more people can watch cricket if they want.
however this sort of negative comments about IPL is bad indeed.

yes if if put the minimum cost means it is good . there should be equality exists between all the players then it is better to have a game with this kind of this attutude

actually i does not like about this kind of tournament's because they spoil the nationality of the country and limits the cricketers to play for their nations and it will diverting the attention of the many cricket playing nations to emerge as a business organizers and it is the shame to our country . i am not able to understand the great people in this game who are term as the god of cricket are also supporting these kind of events. today no player as a respect on their nation and they are not playing for country and they are playing for money, and their own records only

the cricket game was originally started in England. But this type of game is popular in India. It may be due to the brain of some Indian business man. ya. it was Modi who started this and he has been shunted out of this. I am not happy with the huge money being spent or given to players while the millions of people in the country are starving for food.
amidst all this scam, fixing, etc. very bad indeed.

i will agree with you . yes what you pointed in the last line is the fact . if we think like that means it is a shame to us and our country . actually cricket is a private body in our country and if it should comes under the government means it should be helpful to increase the income of our country.

Ipl this season is been haunted by many controversies it is not good news as far ipl future is considered. Every season the game is getting less attention and this season it is infected by many allegations also. It situation trends to continue in this fashion it will end the ipl existence. The money power is ruling the game which ultimately results in the destruction of game and the ipl format. The excess money flow results in low morale for players and some players are finding this opportunity to make money rather than to make a name by performing well and to be included in Indian team. Players are focused on making money and to do so they are adopting unfair means which ultimately results in the downfall of ipl format. People are fed up with the new things happening in this season which will prompt them to stay away from the game.

yes. there are a lot of talks about fixing of IPL matches. CSK which was not winning regularly made a headway to reach final and in the finals they lost. it is rumoured this was done to get advantage for a team from the local people,.

Hi Sivan. Unfortunatelly in my country it doesn't play cricket. I've watched this game on TV or cinema, but I don't know how it will be played. I see that it is a very popular sport in England and India and the people enjoy it very much. With us football is the most popular sport as in many other countries. Another sport I like to watch is tennis and of course the olympic games, where almost all kind of sport will be practiced. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the cricket game.

Now that my favourite team may not be in the race --CSK -- i will read about the results from newspaper and feel happy.

IPL was introduced as an entertainment for the viewers, now players have been trying to make as much as money as possible from it. Now an Australian player been arrested for molestation, this are really bad news for IPl.
I think from the next IPL the viewers will decrease because of match fixing allegation otherwise this continue on, without people stop following cricket and stop going to stadium this will keep happening ...

Ravi Sir,
As rightly quoted in one of the newspaper I read, " Cricked used to be a gentlemen's game... but T-20 of today is just a vulgar display of money, power and sleaze"...
I do not enjoy watching cricket now a days because of that, whereas I used to be a die hard fan back in the years when INDIAN Team was playing. Cricket has seen a negative transition with only its commercialization.
Players focussing only on endorsements and not their game...film stars misbehaving with common man.. the very same person due to which they are tagged as film stars. This should be banned... it is just the way to dwindle all black money.. match fixing and I am sure there must be a lot of illegal transactions going on inside their offices as well. The players are getting paid so much that it goes right through their heads and they lose all sense of humanity and normal behavior. They treat common public as trash because they are financially way way up than any person might even dream of reaching making 200 - 300 crores in a year, whereas a common man can only remotely imagine of accumulating 1 crore in his entire life span. IPL is definitely fixed... a series of match fixing keeps on going inside the team manager's cabins or hotel rooms.. far away from the eyes of spectators and authorities.

welcome to mylot. my views are also similar to yours. cricket is a game of businessmen for making money. cricket fools crores of people throughout the country every day for four hours.
