I am watching t.v. when an ad about shingles comes on. They say " if you had chicken pox , then the shingles virus is in your blood." I think so I should open a vein and let it out! Then it says " the older you get the more likely you will get shingles" So I thought then I have to die young! Thanks for sharing! Have you ever been told one thing " for your information" that you wish you never knew?

On TV you can hear a lot of things and perhaps you can't avoid them. But, if all that one listen there, is truth, sometimes we can't know it. And yes, I've been told several times of things that I didn't want to know. Anyway, I expect that these sad things, never become true.

It's not the dust. It's the dust mites. The bugs they show when they use their microscope. It doesn't scare me, just grosses me out. I always knew there were dust mites. It wasn't until those stupid pictures of the mites walking around that it grossed me out.

The only bug that grosses me out is the roach. I love spiders .

Yes all the crap about what causes cancer....to me it doesn't make sense...if eathing certain things causes cancer then why do babies get it? They might not have ever had the food.....or exposure to things that are supposed to be bad and they still get sick...not only that about five years down the road they change their minds and come up with something new....remember when bacon was supposed to cause cancer? Then a few years later guess what? You had to eat about 7 tons of it a year for several years before it would affect you!

I don't like finding out stuff like this either. It makes me depressed, especially in regards to our health! I've definitely already had chicken pox, so I'm a shingles carrier, apparently.
Yes, I've heard things that I wished I never had. This is a silly example, but it's the best thing I could think of for now...
When I was younger, I especially loved grapes (and still do), but I didn't care for raisins. When I found out they were the same thing, I was devastated! So I thought, "These people are telling me that this whole time I've been eating my beloved grapes, I've been eating yucky raisins too?" That's one thing during my childhood I wish I'd never known lol.
While we're on the subject of food, did you know black olives are aged green olives? I don't care for olives either, but I thought that was interesting.

I didn't know that about olives. But then again , I don't eat olives! I like raisins in oatmeal cookies! I like grapes too, lol.

It's true up to a point what they say in that if you've had chicken pox you are more prone to shingles, but it doesn't mean to say you definitely will get shingles just because you've had chicken pox. Most people who have had chicken pox don't go on to get shingles later. Although shingles isn't nice, it's rarely fatal and is totally treatable, so no need to worry.

That is nothing new. Every day be it the tv, friends, family the works will all warn you about so many things that hitherto you were unaware of, sending shivers down your spine. I am now used to it and do not pay any attention.

That is one thing no doctor will talk about. I surf the net before taking any medicine now a days that my doctor prescribes and discuss the issue with him. I was on Statin for lowering my cholesterol and when I surfed the net I found out that this treatment weakens the muscles. I talked to my doctor and he agreed. I don't take it any more. Fortunately my parameters are all within limits.

I have the same reaction, kill me now! I assume they are warning me what could happen, I take it as it Will happen and there is nothing I can do about it!

Sarah, you have such a wonderful way of looking at things sometimes that it really makes me smile. I have this wonderful picture in my head now of us all opening up our wrists and this stream of virus stuff squirting out like steam :)
Wouldn't that be so cool? We could jet off all those baddies our bodies didn't need.

Well back in ancient time people were bled. Maybe I'm just remembering a prvious life! Actually I was being morbid. I was thinking of just letting all the bad And good Blood wash away.

It is scary to think about the shingles thing. I learned about it when my grandmother got them. It is ridiculous to me that it will lay dormant for so long and then for some unknown reason..poof...there it is. Unknown reason being key word...what the heck? Anyway..yes..lots that I could do without knowing. If I even heard the term though..I would search it out myself though..lol.

I do not pay much attention to such adds. When i was 16 i was having chicken pox and most of the studies proves that a person who was having chicken pox gains the immunity to defend them and the chances to catch the same virus to the same body is very less.
