My 4 year old nephew is addicted to video games. Now that he's on vacation, his dad would let him play with the playstation and he would go on playing for hours. The only time he would stop is if his dad tells him to.
It seems like he would prefer to play video games rather than play with other kids and even when he's not at home, he will look for cellphones that he can play games with.
It's good that he is exposed to technology and I know he wont have a hard time learning about computers but it also worries me that his attitude might change because of all the time he spends playing with v.games.
Don't know how to check it because I don't want to get in the way of his parents' discipline. they raise their son the way they want to and if i interfere they might find it offending.

actually today kid's are more interested to play a video games and the watching the cartoons . actually it is a great thing because they will increase the skills in the child . they are fats and accurate . memory will increase by playing and solving the puzzles . but one of the thing parent's should not entertain that is the parents should not allow their children for a more than a long period of time . because it will show the impact on the eyes and eye complications would occurs . and other it is better to leave in the company with the other kids it will improve the communication skills of the kid . in today society knowledge and communication both are so much important both have a large amount of value in the society ,
one of the important criteria of the parents is teach the discipline to the child in the early age only if not means it will become a big problem in the later age . all this factors only help him to grow the kid as a perfect human in the future

Play video games too much, not very good. Children will be, can not get along with peers. And also very dangerous for health. Because, kids just sit and not move. Perhaps, you can get close your nephew and asked, playing in the park, or you refer to a happy place.

I don't agree that little children are addicted to playing the video games. I think reading, outdoor activities, or even playing the wooden bricks will be good for little children rather than playing video games. It is not only harmful for their eyesight, but it also has other negative effects on them. Such as they don't want to do something else except for playing the video games. It is a kind of wasting time. It will affect their study, too.
I love China

iv'e talked to my brother and sis-in-law about this. unfortunately, my sis-in-law can't do anything because my nephew only recognizes his father as the authority in the house. my brother is aware that his son has the tendency to get addicted so now he does not allow him to use his iphone. and limits his time with the playstation.

Some researchers believe that playing video games at an early age like this would lead to social disorders because of what you said he does not play with other kids his same age. Hopefully this is not the case. I would hope that all children grow up with a good social life including my own. my daught keeps begging me to let her have video game systems so she can play with them, and i keep telling her wait till you get older. I don't want this to interfear with her homework and chores, which could lead to behavioral problems. I hope for the best for you and your nephew.

Hi ddaguno
My nephew who is 8 is using mom's handset... and has unknowingly, activated some services (he doesnt even know what they are) and as a result, each week mom's provider deducts 50 INR (about 1 USD).
I fail to understand why parents and even other elders at home dont check and control the access to so many gadgets. He now needs a playstation and has been asking me to get him one.
I see that kids getting addicted to gadgets are not going to enjoy all those fun which we had - outdoor games, real (not virtual)friends and - a few even end up being scapegoats of social media misuse...

The boy's parents should control his actions now. If not, he could become a game addict.

Please don't do anything to this child. My parents absolutely hate me and I was in his position. I know there are many stereotypes that come with being a video game nerd. Being good at video games or playing all of the time does not make you a good tech junkie or smart. Video games are the same thing as playing with others in real life, I know this sounds strange but my friends I live near are who I play these games with are my friends in real life and sometimes I end up meeting new friends that I would not have met previously had I not known them through XBL (Xbox live) or PSN (PlayStation network). They are always people that know my friends, but there is more of a period of communication as to meeting somebody without seeing them, causing a non-discriminatory relationship between people (i.e. I am friends with a boxer,2 tech junkie's, a beautiful woman and a very strange one at that, and I have a love of physics, mathematics, and writing). Regarding his attitude, there should be no concern unless he very much enjoys sports game, though it is not always the case, sports gamers are the most violent video gamers and are rejected from the fun and serious gamers. Before arguing against the last one I chose to write a research paper for my parent (which they disregarded) because they were terrible towards me when I made a small amount of money doing that about two years ago. I think I may have gone a bit off topic, if you want my sources and more information I will attempt to dig them up just message me, and my point is don't be too concerned.

well, your comment is very refreshing. I know majority of those who read this advised to look for other activities for my nephew. It's nice to know that something positive might come out of his video game fascination. but i still hope he won't get addicted to it since he is only 4 yrs old and as the saying goes "anything that's too much is no longer good"
