My husband starting having seizure about 4 months ago. He was so sad because he wants to be a police officer and now he can't. He works as a security officer and having seizure is preventing him from doing that job. He always wanted to work in the fields of protecting people and that is one reason why I admire him. He has been off work for 3 months and his job only has to hold his position for 3 months, even though they have to find another position to place him at. He went back to work last night out of fear of losing his job, he was getting better. Yesterday he got hurt really bad at work. The doctors keep saying its matter of finding the right medicine but they seem clueless. I know he may need to choose another career but when I tell him that he tells me I don't believe in him. Which is not true.
Do you know anyone who has seizures? How did they get them under control and with what medicine? Were they able to work again?

I feel very sorry for your husband. My sister's American pen friend wanted to become a police lady. They didn't want her because she had to wear glasses. Amazingly she had eye surgery and now has perfect eyesight. She now works as a police lady.
One of my friends worked at a road based place to eat. It was on the motorway. He was friends with a lady there that had seizures. She successfully worked there but sometimes suffered seizures. She wasn't allowed to drive a car.
Good luck to your husband with getting medication that controls his seizures.

A seizure is a symptom for many illness so the doctors need to find why he has them. A neurologist will help him and he should have some exams such as brain scans and an EEG. The seizures can be due so simple things, but they can also mean that he has something serious. This is more than just losing a job. When they know what he has, the doctors might have the right medicide or take other measures.

I have a friend whose son was experiencing seizure sometimes back but after trying different kind of medications without success, the doctors were able to come up with a suitable anti-seizure medication for him. Just be patience, sometimes it may takes a longer time for e doctors to find the right medication and is usually a trial and error case and sometimes alot of blood work. I just hope he can find the right med soon.

I know a couple of people with seizures, and it seems that once they find the right medicaiton that works for them, things go a little better. Everyone has a different body chemistry so it just takes time and motivation to figure out which med works the best. Sorry your husband is going through this, hopefully they can find the right med soon! Till then, he should be okay for work under sick or medical leave.
