Of course not, you should get yourself drunk or even drink during office hours. Firstly it is not professional , secondly it will definitely affect your working abilities as you canno think well and lastly, people around you will also be affected.

The policy regarding that depends on the company. If there is no policy, then there are no reasons to be fired. However, do you think it is ethical enough to go to work drunk? It is a matter of conventional wisdom and notion that one should not go to work drunk. I really don't know why this should still be a question coming out. People should be sensitive to their environment.

i think all companies are strict on one policy that is their employees comin drunk to work is not an acceptable thing. i guess i need to get down and discuss with these guys or the team must show its displeasure towards these guys who come drunk to office! i think tht shuld help ryte??

Maybe the Boss knows that these guys are so useless that if they came into work sober and, therefore, really thinking they were fit for work, they'd start really working and real disaster would ensue.

Hi, In one word NO and such persons are not setting a good example for their junior staffs. Since the management is not questioning them, i assume their work has not affected by their drinks during during office time. However, it is better to stop such a culture that is spoiling the office environment. Has anyone complained this to the higher authorities. It is better to stick posters/quotes on positive and good thoughts around the office or in the notice board so they (drinkers) get a message somewhere that this habit is not appreciated by their colleagues. If you can not do much, request the HR/Management to organise a health check up camp / blood donation etc, arrange a lecture on leadership / management etc clearly conveying the message of problems faced by drinkers and created by them as well. LOL. welcome to mylot and happy lotting.

I just could remember the first company where i was working. Our managers and heads were actually wanted us to get drunk the night before our duty. In our team buildings, all of us were not allowed to not to drink. We still have hang-overs during the day. But we could still manage to attend seminars, conduct trainings and make our job well done. Yet at the end i still quit cos i know it wont be good for my health.

I can think of no circumstance that would make it all right to come to your place of work drunk. It does not show respect for yourself or your job . Some may see the humor in a drunk co worker but in the end it is just a discouragement to everyone. If you are drunk, it would be better suited for everyone for you to take the day.

No, it is not okay to go to work drunk. You should stay at home and sleep when you're drunk. Those co-workers of yours should be given some ultimatum. Doesn't your admin. know?

In our office, it was clearly stated in the Code of Ethics, that we have read and signified , that it is a violation if you come to the office drunk. There is a corresponding penalty and repeated violations can lead to termination.

It's not right for anyone to go to work drunk. After all the boss is paying for their attention to their job. And I would like to know how they got to work. That is a danger all in itself. It's awful that situations like that aren't handled immediately.

I don't think it's appropriate to get drunk and go to the office. Well if you are the owner of the company, there is no high risk for doing so. You cannot be fired by the management because you are the owner. But still there is a risk of damaging your reputation and it could also lessen your thinking ability if you are drunk. For the normal employees out there doing this will surely endangered their relationship with the company. Termination is the worst thing that could happen. Maybe the company you were telling is not too strict about that rule.

I dont think you should go to work drunk if they do and arent being fired they must be really good at what they do, or they must be close to the boss. I think if you go to work drunk and make even a tiny mistake its prolly a better chance they will fire you even if you werent doing anything majorly wrong most days.

It is not ok to come drunk to the office. If i am the management i will give warning letter to my worker who come drunk to the office. Company need to show a good attitude staff. That is the mirror for company reputation. If the company show bad reputation of staff, no one wants to do business with the company and that make lost. So give warning letter to those drunkers, if still no changes in attitude, sorry to say, they must be fired for bad attitude in the office
