If I Could Wish 1 Creature to be Gone, I'd say Goodbye to Mosquitoes

These flying insects just won't cease. I've been spraying mosquito killer every 2 days, but still they come back like they own our house. I really hate these little monsters. I don't know what purpose they serve in the balance of nature. I think they're just purely pests and they bring diseases that could also be fatal. How I wish they'd be gone to extinction, just like the dinosaurs.

Only 1? I have more than one. Mosquitoes, ants, cockroach, and rats. They are just disgusting. Especially rats. They are big and love to run across the house. That just freak me out o

I'm sure there are a lot more pests we'd like to just see vanish from the earth - include your obnoxious neighbor on the list. But, if you are to just wish for one, which among these would you like to go first?

hmmm.. may be rats. Because it's hard for me to kill them. If poisoned them with food, I'm afraid my dog will eat that food, and that will be terrible.

I heard there are some unique rat poison. The first one, when the rats eat the poison, they will feel thirsty and will go looking for water, after they drink, they will die. And another poison will make the rats looking for sunshine, when they sunbathing, they will die. So we will easily find them in the yard or bathroom. I've heard once about the sticky board. Where do you throw the living rats on the sticky board? On the trash or somewhere else?

I live in a Malaria area, mosquitoes often give people malaria here and I've had it over 15 times. I have thought about this too but waaay too many other animals and insects live off of them. There are fish species that eat their larvae and the mozquitoes themselves too, so does the frogs, which in turn is snake food... And I like snakes and fish. I could care less about bats though.

With malaria you get 5 "crosses". One - A light malaria which is a possible reoccuring malaria. Two - A mild malaria, takes about 3 days of articinate and antibiotics before you feel okay again, you will be staying in bed for atleast one day. Three - A mild malaria which could be reoccuring. Four - A serious malaria needing hospitilization, possibility of Cerebol Malaria and acoma. Five - Cerebol malaria, very deadly if not treated, conine is required within 2 days of reaching cerebol stage, most likely to fall into acoma and will probably stay hospitilized for about 2 weeks. Any of these can develope to cerebol malaria if not treated. We however, know the simptoms and have easy access to the medication, so all malaria means to us is being home bound for 3 days with a heavy fever. And not that I know of, no other insect is that size and has that size larvae which breeds in such numbers. Bats on the other hand, live inside many of the houses' here's rooves and cause a serious stench and rotting in the ceiling. They also however, are snake, owl and other predatory birds and animals' food to an extent though. The only thing that would really decrease with decreasing bat population are the owls. Bats are a big part of their diets.

Exactly! We are use to it. Even though its at least not contagious. ;-)

I hate mosquitoes too! Yeah I think frogs are the only ones who could benefit from them, LOL! Although I'd have to say, between a mosquito and a cockroach, I'd choose mosquito! I just hate cockroaches and they're probably the creatures that I'd want to go into extinction.

Cockroaches are also disgusting. I hate it when they walk around the kitchen and over the counters. And, they smell funky, too. And, they have a long life span. But, you know, I think they're easier to kill and get rid of than mosquitos. Or, perhaps, it depends on where your location is. Cockroaches tend to come out during rainy or cold season.

Wishful thinking indeed I would go for ants that pervade my kitchen when least expected. I have a sweet tooth so do my ants. But I wonder if ants have teeth. Never mind. The fact is they are a nuisance and they must go. Fortunately I know how to keep them away from food stuff and this after learning my lesson the hard way. I place a bowl of water and in it I place a stand on which is placed the sweet dish or anything that is sweet. I take honey every day and the bottle is placed in a similar fashiion. I have nets on my windows for mosquitoes and I also switch on the mosquito repellent in the night.

I seldom get ants in the house, and usually its easy to shoo them away. But, mosquitoes are my everyday problem. They really piss me off.

Once the ants get in I have no choice but to discard the stuff. But I have solved the problem now. How does one shoo the ants when they are in the food?

Well, before they got on the food, they sure have somewhere they come from, like sides of the wall or the doors. Perhaps, you can attack them from the source.

I'm sure there's some point with them. Other things eat them, so if we take them away, those other things might get troubles. I'm pretty sure there's more point to them outside than inside though. Maybe you should try having a pet wasp or spider to eat them? Or maybe mosquito nets are better.

I know frogs eat mosquitoes, but there are other insects they can eat as well. I just think mosquitoes give us more problems than solutions in our lives. I'm pretty sure we can live without them.

Yes! I really dream that upon waking up one morning the headline would be "mosquitoes are now extinct!"
