In the news just now they said some neighbors called authorities on Friday saying they saw a mountain lion wondering around the neighborhood. Then today their was a call about the mountain lion was downtown. I hope it doesn't attack anyone and just goes on down the river without incident. If it does attack they will kill it. We have a river running through town and I think it followed it here. Hopefully it is gone now. They are such beautiful animals and not alot of them left.

Me too. And they didn't even mention the tranquilizer option.

I was reading about Wild animals getting closer and closer to us while foraging for food..I'm not sure if the incident I recall was at Washington State U.,but a Student involved said She thought a big dog had brushed past her-it turned out to have been a Bear! It then climbed a tree on the Campus (Remind me not to try climbing a tree when being chased by a bear,Please..!)And there was a photo of Animal Welfare workers capturing the bear by tranking it until it fell out of the tree into a net..the photo showed the bear in mid air! They transported it further upstate and released it..

Ya, alot of animals come down out of the mountains by the river or the foothills. Usually looking for food. We have a big herd of deer in the Fall that comes down at the edge of town and a group of people feed them.

I hate it when they get into parts of town they aren't supposed to be in. I mean obviously they have to kill it if it attacks someone, but I would hope it finds it's own way "home". Or that they could use a tranquilizer and then transport it somewhere where it belongs.

I wonder why they didn't mention the tranquilizer option. That would be the best way.

@rags2riches- I hope you are right. The news caster sounded like it wasn't and the cat would die.

wow! a lion! we had a bear running around in the next town over. (we see them in northern ontario [Canada] but never really down this far south) but sadly, they killed it. a lot of people have complained saying that they should have just put it to sleep and then released it up north farther. its too bad that they killed it.

They are rather famous for being elusive and rarely seen. To have one come down this far is very unusual. They have dropped in numbers over the last few years. I hope it just moves on without any problems.

Yeah, people are just becoming plenty and the animals, especially wild ones may be running out of food or water so they just wander around. Sometimes they can be confused and hurt people..s people are forced to put them down.

It is just too much for me. People are moving into their area and they will soon be extinct because of it. People always win out.

There must be mountains and forest besides the river where you live.Nowadays human habitation is encroaching on forest land and thats why wild animals wander into towns. In my country and even in my city there are plenty of tiger and leopard attacks on domesticated animals as well as humans.I am sure the police and forest rangers will try to capture the animal by tranquilising it and then return it to its wild habitat alive.Animals are fast disapearring from the face of the earth for no fault of their own and every effort should be made to see that they are protected.

Sure is. We have foothills. I hope they will tranquilize it and take it else where. I so agree with '.Animals are fast disapearring from the face of the earth for no fault of their own and every effort should be made to see that they are protected.' I don't think some people think. At all.

It's a shame that as their food sources are depleted and we continue to grow as a society that they are forced into "sight" more and more. Now don't get me wrong, I am certainly not hoping to run into one that is hungry nor wish it on anyone but I think that as grow we will become more and more in contact with wild animals. They are beautiful animals and I do hope that it is not killed too.

People really don't seem to care about leaving the animal alone. They always want to kill it at the slightest provication.

That is so sad. I hope the mountain lion is found before anyone is hurt.

The authorities haven't located it. I hope it moves on without having to hurt it because it has hurt a person.

So worried about the people around that place. I hope they will catch it right away and put them to the safe place. Maybe in the zoo. That way they will be cared well.

I hope it moved on with no problems. I am sure it doesn't want to be in a zoo.
