I first got on a plane at the age of 16. I had no flight jitters whatsoever, no sweaty palms, and fortunately no motion sickness. Now I take a number of flights a year and realized I am not as calm as I was before. I don't experience panic attacks but I feel myself getting paranoid every time I get on a plane. I couldn't sleep nor even close my eyes in unreasonable fear. And I know just what the culprit is: watching Air Crash Investigation in National Geographic! I couldn't stop imagining the awful scenarios I've seen whenever I'm above ground.

My first plane trip was London to Greece when I was 14 years old. My worst flight happened when I was 19 years old going from London to Tunisia. It was a bumpy journey and the plane landed in Tunis then carried on. I had terrible ear pain and was sick. I felt so very ill getting off that plane in Sfax. The most upsetting and worrying plane trip I did was last year. I was traveling from England to Colombia and it was a trip lasting many hours. It was like a nightmare and it caused lots of problems for me. I was traveling with my daughter and then she was one year old. I was in addition traveling with my disabled son aged at that time three years old. For that journey we had to stay overnight in a hotel close to London due to the early departure time. We checked in at five and the plane was meant to leave at seven. We sat on the plane for two hours and wondered what on earth was going on. The plane suddenly left two hours late and it had been due to fog I believe. Arriving in Madrid everyone traveling on to South America had missed their connection. Luckily after lots of stressful bother another airline let us go on their plane to Bogota. We missed our connection to the coast. We got a free hotel in Bogota provided by the airline. Then we flew on to the coast the next day. Arriving we found our luggage missing which turned out to be delayed. When it arrived one bag was missing and was never found. So I lost my kids rain cover, and two sun covers for their buggy. I watched a top 10 air disasters program and it freaked me out. I only travel on good standard and well respected airlines.

There are a great number of flights everyday. Only a very very small number have accidents. This is also a fact. The good thing about investigations is they find out what causes accidents and help to keep the ratio very low. This is to say that the act of flying is safe. More people get run over by cars I think. Perhaps looking at other possiblities might help?

You mean, you have developed a phobia. That's normal.I have watched Air crash investigation too.But please, think for a while; how often air crashes take place? Mostly planes reach their destinations safely.Don't they? Now think: How many times road accidents happen? We frequently hear of them or read news about them.Same is the case of train accidents. But do we stop walking along the roads or give up traveling by trains? Life is full of uncertainties, dear. If something is to take place,it would take place.Nobody can stop it.We hear of people dying in sleep, but we don't stop going to bed every night.Nobody knows whether we would get up the next morning or die of heart arrest.Shun your fear, and live courageously.

True.It is better not to watch these programs and lose our peace of mind especially when we have to travel. What has to happen will happen and only good will happen.

Yeah, you shouldn't have watched that documentation since you ride airplanes often.. But people are just naturally curious. When i watched final destination , all 5 of them, it made me paranoid for a few weeks...and that was just fiction.

I think this feeling is due to seeing TV programs about air hijacks and crashes in our life.I am not scared of traveling in a plane. But I also have unrealistic imaginations when I am in a plane above ground. For me,it's the reports about air hijacks in the world and one film called "Final Destination" that influenced my feelings.Plane is the most safest traffic tools in the world. Why can we be scared of flights sometimes? The reason might be the little possibility of surviving if a plane crashes.I worries about this issue, too. But anyway,a plane is faster and more convenient for traveling than other traffic tools in this world. So,I think we will still choose this tool, though we might still have the unrealistic thoughts in our mind.LOL...I hope we can all enjoy the flights.Howsoever, being worried about the flights is never a good feeling, isn't it? Hope you enjoy your travel with flights, friend!

At Least it was something plausable. Unlike say, Zombies on a Plane. You should remember though that you are statistically more likely to die eating peanut butter than in a plane wreck.
