i have heard the saying that "life is to short" but i have also heard people say that "life is to long". i am curious what everyone thinks....
is life to LONG or is life to SHORT?
there have been times that i thought life was to long for me to be here and have to deal with all the pain and the grief but as i got older i realized that life really is to short and sometimes you never know when your life will be ended so you should live it to the fullest each and every day :)
what do you think?

the events in our lives have a lot to do with the feeling of life is to long. sometimes when we get very stressed out we wounder why is life so complicated and long. but when things are going ok or we cant seem to get a break or cant seem to get eveything we need to done or we feel we a re missing out on the small things in our life at that moment in time that is when we truely realize that life is way to short to take for granted. atleast that is the way i see it.

there are so many things that we go thro or that we do and then we later say that was a waste of my time or that is 30 minutes ill never get back. once we have already done it it is to late and we have "wasted our time" and like you said we can never get it back. then we feel like it was all for nothing and i guess that is where we get the feeling that life is to short to get things done and achieve the goals that we want to achieve before we die.

For me both statements are true. People saying as 'life is too short' is true when we start to hate others for nothing. We have to think life is short and we should not waste.
Life becomes long when we start to enjoy everyday with what we have. We have to be happy and satisfied with our life.

life is something that should not be wasted and many people do waste their life by hating on others and there truely is no point in that. in order to succeed in life you need to be happy eith your self and satisfies with the way things are going so i agree with you completely on this.
most people i have heard talk about this before i posted this discussion said there really is no right or wrong answer to this question because it all falls doen to the individual person. it comes down to the way they feel and the way they use their life to their advantage.
thank you for the great comment :)

Personally I feel life is what you make it. Life in my opinion is too short when you really look at things, as you can never go back and redo something, so you need to make the Best of it one day at a time as it comes.

that is a very good point. a persons life can only be determined by that person and the things they do. i learned that lesson the hard way but i am trying to stop worrying as much about the past and the future but to worry about the say as it comes and to tackle everything that life throws at me during that point in time in the day. i try to take it step by step and one foot at a time :)

i learned this the hard way but i agree with you 100% that is the best way to live you life byputting 1 foot in front of the other. i use to wounder why god would do the things he does in my life but it is like a country song that i like "unanswered prayers" it says that some of god greatest gifts are unanswered payers and it is true :) there is a lot that i wanted when i was younger but now that i am older i am glad it didnt work then because it has gotten me where i am today :)

I think it is both, and neither at the same time. Life is too short to dwell upon things in the past that cannot be changed, and that is what leads to life appearing to be too long. Since you can't change the past, if one dwells upon it, they waste time and do not move forward, so life could appear long.
Whether or not life is long or short will always be debated, but what is for sure is that we know we have a finite time here, and your realization is the best one can achieve, live every day to the fullest, do what is important now, and leave the less important for another time, as we are not guaranteed that next moment. Enjoy what we have, strive to achieve more, but never concern ourselves too much with the things we think we don't have.

that is the best way to look at things. i use to look at the past and i guess i would say i even dwelled on it a little which made life seem so long. specilly when i was in high school but now that i am older i see that life it truely to short. no one truely knows when their time will come and you are right it could be tomorrow and if we look to far ahead or to far behind us we will miss out on a lot of things that are right there in front of us at that given time. thank you for the great response. i wish everyone could think the way you do :) it is a good way to look at life and a good way that everyone should live their life before it is to late :)
but like you said it does seem like both at times and that all really depends on the things that happen in ones life. life is what we make of it....

You're quite welcome; life is a very interesting topic to discuss and thank you for initiating the discussion. I think all life is interesting, important, and even sometimes mysterious, from the 8 day old person to an 80 year old person. The 8 day old is the mysterious part, as you can't possibly predict what they will accomplish in their lifetime. The 80 year old can tell you first hand about events most people would have to read in a history book. The 8 day old is a clean slate, ready to accept and process knowledge, perhaps in ways we cannot imagine. Just ask the 80 year old if 40 years ago he imagined he would be typing responses on a keyboard, with words appearing on an LCD screen that allowed him to share his knowledge with anyone, anywhere in the world, in mere seconds?

i agree life is a very interesting topic to me also. there is always something to talk about when it comes to someones life. i never looked at it like that bit i see what you mean about the 8 yr old and the 80 yr old. i always love to sit and listen to an older person because like you said they can tell you real life events that happened to them during the things that are written in the books. they always have the best stories :) i am sue they would say no haha. i know i am only 24 but when i was younger i would imagine electic/solar cars, the robo life preservers (emily is its name *i saw it on the news yesturday), talking to our cell phones, ect. there is a long list of things i didnt think would happen in my lifetime.

I think that life if too short. It seems long, but look at your past, it seems like it zoomed right by you.

i agree it does seem long at the time but i never thought about it but when you look in the past it feels like it went by so quick and we missed so much.

Life is too short for people who have lots to achieve and do for others and their own-selves but you can not say the same for people who have nothing to do worthwhile in their long lives. They always find it hard to pass time without a proper goal to achieve and live on. Life may be long for people who do suffer due to various other reasons and find a motto to live. Therefore life is too short or too long depends differently for person to person.

yes either answer can techinically be correct it just all depends on the events that are going on in ones life at that point in time. it does also depend on what you do or how you act also. i dont think i could have said that better myself. everyone has thier own life and their own reasons for the way they feel about life.

I was also confused of this question before. But now I think life is too short, i am thirty years old, but i have't the true meaning of life.I always tell myself, if you don't cherish time,it will be away from you.

i am 24 years old and i feel like i am running thro life and time will just get away from me. i agree with your saying about "if you dont cherish time it will get away from you" bevause that is the way i feel to. i learned the hard way i have to cherish the time i have because i cant get that back and i am still not cherishing like i should so i am still working on that lol

The life of a person is unpredictable. Even the doctors says, "your life will end on that particular day", sometimes miracle will happen. Only God knows when and where. But I surely believe that life is so short for nothing in this world will always stay here. We will all die no matter what.
Since our life is so short, why waste our time doing those things that isn't good. Enjoy life... :)

life is waaaay to short sometimes it gets a bit depressing. by the time you finish collage you will hopefully be working full time trying to accumulate all that you desired growing up. then before you know it you will be on your 50s looking towards retirement without any children or even a special some one. smh then we end up alone for the rest of our lives alone :(. life to me is waaay to short

that is very true it seems like by the time college is over and you spend your life working to save money and like you said do or get all the things you wanted as a child you are old and there is no time to really enjoy the life that you have created for your self or it is to late to really finish all the things you wanted to do before you die which would include having a family with someone you love. i was one of the lucky ones to have already found that but i have so much more that i want to accomplish and i just not sure there is enough time in a lifetime to do it all. thank you for the great response :)
