What brings you Joy?

I was talking to my aunt tonite and she said that her happiness depends on the happiness of her now very adult children. I felt so sad about that because when your happiness depends on others, you are always going to be unhappy.
I told her she needs to find her Joy. She needs to find something that makes her happy. When she finds that inner happiness her kids will see it and want to do the same for themselves.
What brings you Joy? What besides your kids or your family brings you pure Joy and Happiness?

Making my family and friends happy makes me happy too. Thinking also that nobody hates me, that adds more joy into my life.

What bring me joy? I call it joie de vivre (Joy of Life!) when I see my little newborn lambs romping and playing with each other. Their joie de vivre gives me the GREATEST JOY of all! It relaxes me, and makes me realize that you must take the time to enjoy the things that put a smile on your face. Smell the roses, take long walks, relax and enjoy life every time to get a free moment. I may not have a lot of time to luxuriously relax, as I have a farm that I run full time, so I take the little pleasures and derive as much joy as I can when I can. We also try to steal away for a few hours every once in awhile in the summertime to go fishing. I LOVE FISHING and so does my hubs.

What I like about fishing is the peace and quiet. Sitting in the boat, on the water, just floating along, is so relaxing and close to nature, it seems. Well, except for the exitement when you catch one, then it is just FUN! Plus, you get a meal out of it, too. We bring home and cook and eat the fish we catch. Mostly smallmouth Bass and Pickerel(Walleye). They are delicious!
When I am feeling down, all I have to do is go out in the barn and pick up a lamb and hold it for awhile. Nice warm loving feelings come back to me then.

When I can do what I want to do and when I can make people smile and laugh!!(^^)
Nothing will make us more happier other than see others feel happy because of us~(^^)
the smile is priceless and just with it, my day and others will change and full with so much joy~(^^)

Hi 34momma, Thats right, your happines should not depend on others but family is something you can't count in others..specially the mother-child relation. Ofcourse one should find space and joy for self but how can be someone happy if he/she loves a lot to his/her family and any family member is in problem..Having space and making happiness for self is another thing and yes is essential for life..I find joy in many ways for myself like painting, listening music, shopping, friends or reading a book or sometimes just a cup of tea.. :)

You can share in the happiness of others, but to depend on others to make you happy or forfilled will never work. I love my children and I am honored, blessed, and happy to have them. But my happiness doesn't depend on them. I am always happy and I share it wtih them, and they share theirs with me. We share in happiness.

With regard to your main query, well, the thing which really brings me joy was having a simple living under the dream house that I am aiming to have and having all the gadgets i want and beside me is the love of my life. That's it.

Honestly, this is one problem of mine. My happiness also usually depends on others, and I really don't know how to fix it. I seem to be always not contented, I always seem to be wanting more, and that's something I need to work on.
