Jessica Sanchezdid not Make it as American Idol

Oh my it's Philip Philipps who won the American Idol not Jessica.
In my opinion, Jessica should have been the one because she can sing beautifully and she's versatile. Philip for me is just a mediocre singer, always singing country songs.
Oh well, maybe it's because Philip is a pure American as the title is American Idol. That's understandable.

Hello Simplyd, I think they allowed it to happen because Jessica is in good hands now. last night some one posted on the thread that Thalia got a call from his hubby tommy motola who's a big producer in the industry, that will handle Jessica Sanchez's album. So, i think that is a win win situation for me. to be honest, when I heard that, i know she's in GOOD hands. the title (neh) it's just a title, i only care that Jessica will have longer fame and career and not short lived just like the people who were thrown off after being crowned American Idol for once in a While.
IF Jessica would have won, then her handlers wouldn't be that good. i think i have explain this in my previous discussion and Albert has already explained it to me, so i think am ok with the runner up thing. She has a career on the way now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH THALIA! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Oh well, maybe this is Thalia's way of thanking us Pinoys and of course- we have some mixed blood as well.
Oh gosh, Thalia is the only celebrity that really caught my interests.

That's good news for Jessica and her fans. That just means they'll be seeing more of her after the contest.
But, LetranKnight, it can't be the reason why Jessica didn't win. Of course, its the votes that count. So, Phillip just simply had more votes from the American community.
How many votes was Jessica behind?

because if she had won the crown, motolla won't be able to handle her much instead it would be interscope. so, i really owned her on this one. that is a long time win win for me i think. the title means nothing if your going to have a decade of stardom. it's a BIG PLUS when thalia was considered a Jessica sanchez fan calling her a Mexicinata FIlipino =D.
No, you don't get it. most idol winners don't go far after the first album. albert told me that the record holders let go of the winners on the second album. unlike Jessica who is now inder motolla would have huge mentorship and a fame of a life time, just like Jennifer lopez, Thalia, Maria, Destiny's CHild and many more.
i am glad i heard the other good long term NEWS than this title.

Yeah, her duet with Jennifer Holiday was awesome! She held it out on her own and was not a bit intimidated by Jennifer. She really is one big bundle of talent in a pint size body.

And blunge, yes that duet with Jennifer Hoilday is really a nice one. She sang as nice as Jennifer Holiday.

I was of course rooting for our fellow Pinay but then it was another "WGWAG" (white guy with a guitar) who made it. I guess they never are really going to allow an Asian to win on American Idol. Nevertheless, she is still my WINNER! She may not have won the title but she still won the hearts of many just the same. I am looking forward to seeing her shine on her own despite not getting the title.

Yeah, I believe that she is still going to make it big because of her amazing talent! I remember Idol contestants who did not get the title but have topped the billboards -- the likes of Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, David Archuleta and Chris Daughtry. Go, go, go, Jessica you are still a winner!

I don't think Jessica won't be handled well if she wins the title. I've heard from a mylotter that winning the crown isn't exciting as you think. Phillip Phillips will have a limited contract w/ interscope while Jessica has sign in with Motola who will have handle her well and skyrocket her career. i got a good feeling Jessica is on the way now. therefore, she's the winner in the Long run. oh, yeah am thankful for thalia for this.

Hahaha... same thing here. We want to think of that way that Americans are racist but of course; if they do are; then they wouldn't allow someone like Jessica make it in the first place.
It's has just being fair to me as from the way I've seen it. (LOL, my coworkers did even bullied me as I listened- yes, listened and not watch in the flat screen while checking online for more posts) Well; as the show ends, I've been bullied for 2-3 hours after I proved myself right; Jessica wouldn't win due to her song of choice.

Actually, i wasn't into watching American Idol, but lately when all the news would have Jessica, i found myself also following the episodes.
Well, today's performances , i didn't watch. I just watched Jessica's performance with Holiday and the announcement of who will win. But i know it will be Philip, because he's more of an American descent.

The major audience of American Idol are teenage girls, young women, housewives and cougars. They control the votes in the last 5 years. They wont support someone with ovaries.they support someone they want to marry.
Also there are people in the US who are into "artist" instead of singers. people who loves artist prefers "originality" over vocals.
There is no such thing as "american descent" American is not a race.its a nationality.
You can also have people who are into country music and southern rock from the southern states.

I was a little disappointed too. But I have heard friends say that this season's American Idol show was a success in that Phil is the "American", while Jessica is the "Idol".

you have a facebook account right? and you have relatives in the US? You can help her chart buy linking her itunes page in your facebook account. Thats is what every fan of her who cant afford to buy her itunes songs do now. make her itunes link viral. so people who can afford will buy.

So sad but for me she still the winner.I do expect it somehow cause every time that a girl and a boy battle in the finals, the guy always had the chance especially if he has the looks cause girls would really scream and vote for him regardless of its talent.
Nonetheless, Jessica is still a winner for making that far and ha a great singer career in the future because of her talent.Kudos to Jessica.

I doubt Phillip Phillips will be a hit here in our country, but Jessica will surely be. I am so thankful for thalia for thinking really quick about giving Jessica a shot by letting his husband to handle her first album. I hope and pray that he won't let her go so that she will be a long term stardome.

Yeah its the longevity of the stardom is more important and the talent of course. That is always the scenario in the American Idol in some finale. Now,it is quite predictable whats gonna happen in the end that's why is ratings is quite lower in past seasons.

The success of their career after the contest still greatly depends on their fans. I've noticed that not too many AI stars retain their fame after winning. Probably, AI is just a craze that lasts during the contest period. And, when a new season starts, the fans' attention goes to the new contestants.

yes I saw it live. This is the 6th year in a row that a guy has one on the show it is time a girl one. Jessica would have been the first person from an ethnic back gound to win.

Yes, she could have been the first one indeed. Unfortunately, it seems that the Americans really just like contestants who are of American descent.
But that's okay, because as others have responded, Jessica is being offered a singing career by a big time Mexican recording company. And besides, in our hearts she's still the winner.

It's not being mediocre. The one reason Jessica didn't make it through this competition is with the choice of songs. Sometimes you need to consider choosing a better song that will also enhance your vocal choice.
Don't get me wrong, Jessica is also good being "biritera" (high-pitched singer) but she's just too young. Although it was great to know that she has this special vocal range that can reach high notes but of course; choice of song does matter.
If Philip did select those country songs out of being nationalistic; I don't think so. He just chose a song that just fits him. Being soulful counts and not just being stunning alone.
And even I'm a Filipino, it's fair for a business enterprise to choose an artist that knows his or her capabilities and not just being spontaneous choosing songs, perform and that's it; sweeping them for a short time. No wonder it's "United States" because they got "united" in voting who's their choice.

There are certain factors. In my personal experience as an amateur; there's still this free will given for you to pick a song for a contest. There may be a mentor at the back of your singing 101 but that's should be like a guide to what song are you going to pick still.
In what I'm thinking right now; it's like Jesicca was still unsure of her potential despite of making this so far. I mean she's still 16 years old and for that thinking; getting a high-pitch songs may win her over a "boring" performance of another artist. but judging by how it goes and how she justify the song (as she was also asked by Ryan Seacrest during the show) she also felt unsure. It's like "maka-kanta lang" (for the sake of singing) and bringing out her full potential of her vocals which deprives her true sense of bringing out the soul of the selected song.
Admit it, most youth in the Philippines would also think of that way; belting out a certain song in a videoke without knowing and OWNING the song that they're singing. that's how magical it was for Philip even you'll find it plain and boring with the usual country approach like the others did. Owning a song and interpreting it DOES counts.

Correct i agree to to your last sentence, resy.
Well, you are also correct in saying that the songs chosen for Jessica to sing is not apt for her, as J. Lo have said about her last song and for her other previous songs in the earlier episodes.
Do you think it was Jessica and Philip who were choosing their songs ?

I was kinda upset about the situation of results show that Jessica did not win the crown for American Idol. I do think that Jessica should have one. Eventhough Philips is good, but he's not my favorite. I have already seen too many white guys in guitars. If Jessica was on Season 12 instead of season 11, she probably would have won. Philip has is on way but Jessica has her own style good.
I also think there were lots of jealous people out there..
There's a black singer, there's a couple of white singer, there's latina singer - Jordin Sparks. ANd there can't be an filipino-mexican american born in the states singer?
Oh wells.

Hi there! i see what you mean. Too many girls like a guy in guitar. just like girls who like justin beiber or some other guy bands. Oh wells. It's already past. But I hope she'll be more successful than other runner-ups or first placers. Also maybe AI winner is not really meant for her. second placer is good enough. She already beat Jasmine Trias, Thia, and Ramiel already and if we compare here to them. She's already first place between Jasmine, Thia, and Ramiele.
I'm okay and and happy. Watching her duet with Jennifer made me more happier than worrying about her losing to AI crown.
Also Jessica did say she's happy that Philips won and that win or lose, they are all winners. :D
Jordin Sparks also won AI from a previous season , i think she's one of the successful people there is.
If there's another AI show, I do hope they allow Jessica to sing or perform on the show or other seasons.. David cook was there peforming on season 11 when he won on season 7.
I'm happy then. :D

Yes, until now we are still sad that Jessica didn't make it as AI.
As it is obvious, Jessica no matter how a good singer she is will not win, because those girls will obviously vote for Philips, since they find him so cute. Secondly, Jessica is not in any way , American looking.
However, as Letran has previously responded , Jessica is better off 2nd placer, because she is assured of a long time singing career. It has been said & observed that those who make it as AI has a short lived singing career, because the attention of the company will be diverted to the new AI winner.
If that is the case, then we should be happy Jessica wasn't the AI.

For five seasons the winner is a goodlooking caucasian guy with a guitar. A new term WGWG was even invented because of it. You know there is really a pattern and that is if you dont fit the profile of a WGWG then you have little chance of winning the AI title.
Jessica Sanchez in my book and to many is the true winner, but AI stopped becoming a singing talent competition a long time ago.

Yes, basing the winner from the text votes of the people would really not mean a really good singer. Its more of being a good looker guy.
With all those teenage girls swooning on him , he really will be the winner, in addition to having the American looks.

To be fair with the show, I think the title is " American Idol" so just based on that it would certainly and probably be a white American male, and most likely than not ooze, out an aura of being " all American" ( without sounding racist), now if the title was " the best singer in America for this season" , then I think Jessica would have won it handily, now for a mix breed American citizen (Fil-Mex), to reach that far is already a great achievement for all of us, so let's in my opinion just be contented, besides let's rest on the thought that in that show, it has a trend that seconds make it bigger as in the case of Archuleta and Cook, yes I know Jessica will make it real big, the world has seen her talents , and as for Philip. I wish him the best too even if he's style and looks is mostly for the American market. let's just all be happy for both of them young people!

her fans should not be mourning now, debating with Phillip fans, complaining in facebook, youtube and twitter will not make any help. They should buy her singles at itunes or amazon and if they cant, they should at least promote her itunes links so people with money will be intrigue and buy. Filipinos can help her succeed not by claiming her as out very own but by promoting her music or buying her music, instead of crying, complaining, mourning, and being angry, her fans should help her by buying her singles. That is the true proof they really love her.

Look at the bright side, part of the prize is a record deal will interscope records....the reason why 3 of the last 4 winners have flop albums. she is signed on a better record deal.
Phil is not a pure American, He is a Caucasian, Only Pocahontas can say she is a pure American. Everyone who lives in America that is not a Native American Indian is an immigrant.

teenage girls, housewives and cougar wants Phillip to be the father of babies. No woman had won since the last 5 years. before the text votes era women always win singing competition but people got sick of the "divas" they think its screaming, plus majority of Americans are into Autotuned singers like Ke$ha. A lot of us would gave liked to see jessica win. Just like most of the americans want philip to win. We have to take into account that most of those votes came from the younger generation who likes philips looks more than his vocal chords. Just as much as I want Jessica to win and for Philip to take a bath but then that's a competition and that's the letdown when you let people who don't the difference between a great voice and a cute face. But America has decided so we just have to congratulate Philip. I think he deserved the crown considering the hardships he has to go through the entire season. We best them all the luck. A lot of people are no longer worried about Jessica so lets hope that everything went well for Philip as well. Let's hope that he would really become a real american idol and not just be forgotten like the previous winners.
