I'm just curious why some of the user's here in mylot got a Star besides their user name? How can I get that and what does it mean?

You will see your star when you reach a User Rating of 100. It represents your MyLot Reputation and depends on how well (or otherwise) other users have rated your discussions, responses and comments.

It's worth pointing out that your User Rating is NOT a post count. It represents (roughly) how many discussions you have been involved in, not how many times you have posted in total.
