Hemmingway Park in Boulder City, Nevada is a great place for the family to enjoy some time together. There are basketball courts, Tennis courts, playgrounds, a huge field of grass for anything, and even areas that are shaded and have barbecue pits for parties. The other thing that I just love about this place is seeing the big horn sheep. They come down everyday for about 5 months out of the year to feed on the grass. Great for the keepers of the park they don't need to worry about mowing the grass. :) The sheep are not really that afraid of people. You can sit on a bench there and they will literally walk by you at arms length. I need to remind you these animals are wild so yes they are still dangerous so I suggest you do not touch them and most definitely do not feed them. Rams can do a lot of damage and most likely kill if they feel threatened. What is even better if you catch them early in the season around March and April you will see the little babies. This is when people need to be extra careful because the sheep are very protective of their young.
If anyone is ever in this area I would suggest you do visit Hemmingway Park. It is towards Lake Mead. Enjoy!

This sounds like a fascinating park! My kids would love this. We have been to Nevada twice (and Lake Mead once) but I had never heard of Hemmingway Park. It will definitely be on our agenda for the next visit--thanks for the tip!

You should especially for the kids. Make sure you bring a camera because it is one of the only places I know that you can get this close to these animals.
