It's really a sad news for all indians. this will affect indian people who are all suffered from many problems. The government should consider people problem and should reduce the petrol price.they can easily escape from the by poitning out economic condition. but they have to do something to reduce the petrol price.

I don't think so that the new government won't reduce the petrol price.

Oh yes.I missed the queue yesterday.I came to know about this only this morning. Already my pockets are burning to pay the current petrol price. Now,its still more.Hope the government would do something to cut down the price again.I saw in news that some political parties are going in for strike and opposition to the governments decision regarding this issue.Let us see what they can do.

Did you see the news in the noon.It is possible that they reduce the price by 2-2.5 rupees. Every time, they do they same. They raise the money by about 5-7 rupees and then reduce by 2 rupees. What is the big difference. This government is going on increasing the taxes.Along with petrol prices, diesel and LPG prices are also planned to be increased.

Yes i got to know that tats a tactic ..increase by 7 and reduce by 2 ( provided they already know there is going to be a protest) so that they feel balanced with oil companies as well as protesting public/opposition parties!!

Absolute stupidity! In both the ways, even if they increase to Rs 10 also nobody is there to question and we poor Great Indians are habituated by suffering and there are these donkeys to VOTE to our notorious NETAS and this will keep going and will go on. This is our country - anyone can do anything, by the by this is the so called DEMOCRACY - people by people for the people .... For whom the bell rings??

As value of dollar vs Indian Rupee is at the peak there were hints of the price rise in last few days. As about 50% of petrol price is Central and State taxes, Govt should consider to lower the percentage or change the pattern of taxes on petrol. Without giving any botheration about sufferings of people Govt is enjoying the huge part of taxes in petrol price.

Yes govt has to intervene to reduce the taxes(which many feel is totally unnecessary as our neighboring countries are paying way much less than we do yielding to pressure of oil companies in India)

Hi friends... here my my lot friends are expressing there views against the petrol price rise. I think every body is blaming the government and saying that they will never consider the feeling of poor Indians. But i thinks in different way. I love and respect India very much and i want to see our country in more height. So i think every body should read this post and understand what is the real matter behind this. let me play devil's advocate and temper down some of the most vehement arguments against this increase. I agree that this fuel hike will disturb the family budget of the Indians. In the current petrol price, around Rs 26 is the tax payed to central and state government. The most of the earning for the government is from this crude oil tax. So if you take away some tax revenue the gap between income and expenditure of government — a wide one already — will widen further. And it will negatively affect the growth of our country. Already government spends a lot of money just paying the oil companies for their taking losses on diesel and kerosene. In effect, a portion of what it collects as tax on that fuel goes back into paying for the losses incurred on these fuels. One point should be noted is our central government is already taking measures to cut there expenses by reducing the allewences to ministers like cutting down travelling allewences, reducing foreign trips, reducing government functions etc and the people is blaming the central government. With all these taxes government collects, most of it is payed to poor farmers and below poverty line peoples in the name of food subsidy and lot more. Do you people want to cut all these? I hope every Indians wants and love to see India in new heights. And so i ask can't you suffer at least a this much for the growth of our country?

I totally agree with the your views..what you are seeing here is the ideal condition how a government works.First thing I have to tell is people have lost faith in the government thats making them blame the government for every issue. And even government has not kept up its integrity in so many issue. You put forward that oil companies may undergo a loss , but fact I read recently is one of the oil company has made a profit of 12,000+ crores this year!!! fabulous on behalf oil prices have raised considerably since last year..Coming to foreign trips you must be aware that president , the first person of country has spent crores for foreign trips from tax payers money!!!!..government itself is in a huge scam which is causing a huge loss for the exchequer !!!, being so you feel only by price hike of petrol money governemnt is running country?..But I welcome your views ..but real facts really hurts :(
