I think that everyone will agree and must have seen people who think that they know everything...i really get furstated to see such poeple...i dont understand the fact why they hasitate to except that at some point of time they can also be incorrect and the other can be right or why are they not willing to learn something new or change thier view. In my opinion people learn something or the other on the daily basis and i really dont thing their is anything wrong in learning something new and learning that from some one younger to you.....i think its just thier EGO nothing else...

I have a friend who will always try to make out as if he knows everything there is to know about life, even if he gets caught out with wrong information. Sometimes, I will tell him something that is false and see if he claims to already have known it, and more often than not he does. He gets embarrassed sometimes when we catch him out, but then he will always just carry on lying about things so I don't think that he learns from the lies that he tells which is a bit of a shame because everybody is stopping trusting him now because of it.

yes this do happens that they got caught about their incomplete knowledge and their are few people who at that point of time also refuses to agree that they are wrong...they just dont like being proven wrong..

lol. I know and I understand. We really tend to meet a lot of people like that--especially in this day and age. The only way why they are like that is because of their limited knowledge. "They don't know that they are ignorant at some point." Only the wise know and accept that they are truly ignorant about many things. And when one accepts their ignorance, they tend to be wiser and have prevent another fool walking on this world.
Learning is the process humans should adapt everyday. Stop learning--a.k.a. updating and soon the person will die because the person won't be able to survive.
Also, I don't think it's only the pride that is at work here with your situation. What you are facing right now might have to do something with the "person's cup which is already filled". Because of the person's experience, the person will have difficulty learning something new and very opposite to already what he has learned. Do you get what I mean? An empty cup is easy to fill. But an already filled cup won't hold anything more--and just throws new things away...

You mean my dad? Anyway.. I don't think it's always about a big ego, it also may have to do with real concern or way more life experiences. But even if that is the case (or something else) I do believe everybody has the right to live his/her own life, gather his/her own life experiences. Why? Because in the end you are the only one who has to be satisfied with your life, the things you did or refused to do. Other people can give you some advice but it's not said you have to follow that advice as well. We all are different and it's a good thing we are. So no reason to get frustrated because of that. Also no reason to try to change their opinion. It's just their opinion.

hmmm i guess you are right that thier own opinion but what frustates me is the way they force us to belive and agree on whatever they are saying if they have thier opinion i do have mine tooo. nothing esle...i know that it thier life and they can do whatevr they want to and think whatever they want to but i hate it when it becomes an argument and matter of "me knowing more than you"

People who think they know everything are only hurting themselves. If they think they know everything, that means that they are learning nothing. They are also alienating themselves from people because others tend to stay away from know-it-all type of people. Sooner or later even their so-called friends get tired of their attitude and have less and less to do with them. These people never progress in life. They are their own worst enemies and are never happy...

I agree with you, we learn something new each day. No two fingers in our hand are of same type. Like that, in this world people differ in their nature. My neighbour is a person who pretends that she is very clever and knows everything and many times she is proved wrong, but she never admits that. It's best to ignore these type of people beacuse they will never change.

I think these people are their own enemies, they lose their opportunity to learn something new only because of their ego that they know everything.Even I get frustrated sometimes when people are proved wrong but still they dont give up and stick on to their wrong point. If it happens in work place its rather more stressful. You know that your manager or boss is wrong but he still sticks on the plan as he cannot give up in front of his subordinates. This is really not a good development for us.

I think people who have the courage to admit that they don't know something are those people who are more knowledgeable. They were the ones who accepts the fact that they still need to learn and therefore learn a lot as well. People who thinks they know everything tends to close their ears about the truth and so they don't get to learn and got stuck on what they only know.

i really feel horrible whenever i face this kind of people in my life.
I avoid talking to them or going into any sort of conversation to them, basically their so-called "i know everything" attitude irritates me a lot.
I have one in my office and i feel at times that i should have banged his head with something so that at-least he can keep his mouth shut for sometime.
People of this kind are best to be left alone and should never be entertained in the way they want.they always seek some way or the other to make a fuss of small small things that require no attention most of the time.
People of this nature are better to be handled in a shrewd way and need lot of patience to handle them.

Yes,almost all of us must have encountered such people. They live in the illusion that they are God.Here in my hometown there was a doctor who came from this category. He was the friend of my elder brother.Being a doctor he should have a practice, but for unknown reasons he chose to be a businessman. He pretended to know everything from medical science to religion to philosophy to the paranormal to wild life to politics to rocket science.Whenever I found him sitting in a shop or talking to his friend,I tried to change my way to avoid being seen by him.Once or twice he caught me unawares and then did not leave me for hours. Now he is no more and I can walk along the road freely and carelessly.

Yes,it's maybe because that she/he is like that in short that's his/her nature, i knew a person acting that he knows everything the way he speak but when during actual he is weak, many called him boastful, but in the other side he is kind and gentle to women.,It's emphasized that we have negative and positive side..
Thanks have a nice day

maybe they feel they are smarter than people who younger than them which is wrong in my opinion, younger doesn't always mean lack of experience and knowledge and older doesn't always mean smarter, every people have their own experience and knowledge and i think it's better to exchange and learn from the other people because it can makes us know and understand lots of other things we don't even know before, people who always think they're right and smarter is kind of people who can be better and move forward further i think, because their mindset is they already know everything so that they can't accept the new knowledge and truth they haven't know before so.. yeah, pity them. :)
