I just read two articles on this topic. Are you using facebook? Would you actually pay for using the site or go back to another web site. I would not pay to be on there, how sad for those who cannot afford it but still want to keep up with friends and family if they decide to either shut down or charge people. In the long run if they start charging, then I think more people will stop using it and then they end up shutting doen anyways..

WeeklyWorldNews is notorious for purposely generating hoaxes. In their book it is clearly ALWAYS April 1st. The other source you quote is also very unreliable (you notice that it nowhere says what the source of its information is!)
It is just some people's hobby to make a mockery of the 'authoritativeness' of the Internet. They do this mostly to draw attention to the fact that you should NOT believe everything that you see in print!
Facebook can do what they like, of course, but Zuckerberg has clearly stated MANY times that the service will ALWAYS remain free.

OMG, jureathome! For heaven's sake, just LOOK at the stories they publish! It should be absolutely clear what they are doing!
Weekly World News calls itself "The World's Only Reliable News" and then you see stuff like this ...

How did you know that owlwings? The name of the website seems "big".
But, I know that the topic of the article can't get any real. Facebook is already earning a lot being a free website. And, I don't think they would risk to lose their users who are driving traffic to the site.

Yes, I use Facebook and I am kind of addicted to it. Whenever I am bored I surf Facebook. And even if I am not bored I surf Facebook. So, whatever and however it is I need Facebook. But to use Facebook if I need to pay then unfortunately I won't use it. Because it doesn't make any sense to use a social networking site by paying. I would then rather do something else instead of using Facebook. But yea I'll surely be disappointed. But I am not. :D This is because I know that such a thing isn't going to happen. Those kind of news are just rumors. And I've been hearing those since more than a year.

Just another scare like March 15th was. If this does go through then I will close my account. I can't afford to pay the $50 or close to it. The CEO saying, “people will get used to paying. It’s not so bad. What’s a few bucks a month?” Is repulsive at best. $50 may not be much to them but its alot to me!

I have so many pictures on FB I would hate to find another spot to put them. And I really enjoy several of the games too. What a bummer if they do start charging. I think it will really start a precident for other sites to start charging too.

There is no way for facebook to charge its users. The life of facebok is based on the users and if they want to do it they will definitely will go down. They earned more than enough to make it available free for us because they gets more money by making it free than the opposite. So there will be no way for them to change the policy~(^^)

I don't use facebook for free so I sure wouldn't pay for the site. I think it is to much drama.

This has been mentioned before and everytime this has been not true. This is a hoax and nothing more. You fell for it like alot of other FAcebook memebers! When are people going to learn? If it doesn't sound true,it usually isn't!

I wouldn't pay for it if they started charging and I'm sure most other people would quit too. Don't they have something on their front page that says "Facebook is free and always will be"? Hmm...

I think they used to have that on their front page, I'm not even sure now with the Timeline. I think the fact they had it on at least should speak for itself and they should live up to the fact it said it no matter what. I would hate to hear any of my friends on there had to quit. I would have to quit also.

Honestly, I could never see myself paying to have social networking. They are referring to a monthly fee based on what and how much content you use and how many friends you have. If this happens, I will delete my account and go back to myspace. Just funny, because on the homepage of facebook before you log in, it says "It's free, and always will be", but appearantly that's not entirely true when the owner is working on a plan to begin charging people. You are right, what happens to the people who do pay for it and it get shut down anyway? Just another way to profit more off of something the public enjoys, if you ask me.

Before I say anything else i want to say: Weekly World News is not a reputible news paper. That being said it is possible that FB will charge soon. Being publicly owned they will end up doing whatever the share holders want.
