What would you do if your work place becomes tough?

I'm working at a lawyer office as a clerk. There is a lot of work tension. I make a lot of mistakes but not major ones. I worked there for almost 3 months. One time when I made a mistake, the superior said,"What is it with you these days. Are you getting mentally retarded?", in a very serious tone. After this incident I still work there because I need money. Sigh....

It's ok aegina. Working is really a lot of pressure specially if you are new because you are only adjusting with the environment. I think you have a very unprofessional superior. Try talking with your co-workers and ask if he/she is really like that. You just need to go with the flow. there is no easy money and it's really tough. Believe me this experience from your past will help you become a tougher and better person.

Hiya aegina,
How very nasty of that person. It must be that he has never made a mistake in his Life? Not one single one?
Bit hard to believe that he cannot make a mistake I bet he makes loads when he gets home and takes his office personality for a walk (relaxes I mean lol).
Very nasty remark indeed and that must have left you feeling quite put out to say the least.
Seeing as how the work situation is I can understand that it is very hard to put up with such a situation for very long.
Is the work situation pretty bad where you are too? In other places what he has said would be called mobbing if he kept up that verbal abuse for very long.
Has he done that before too I mean to you personally?
Given the chance of finding a better place and better opportunities I would leave him high and dry that´s if I could of course.
That is what I would do if I could leave him there. Let someone else put up with him if they can.xxx

im new to my work too. I have always been wanting to work for this type of company and i got it finally. But its kinda tough. Kowledge overload and pressure is always there. Whenever i make mistake, they always let me know. Sometimes it seems that its out of the boundary the way they handle me but im trying my best to remember and learn everything. I hope ill be staying for a little longer.

It is very hard when things happen in work, because it can sometimes just make you want to find a new job and quit this one. However, the most important thing that you have to remember is that things are going to get better, and that not every day is like the one that you have just had to cope with. If there is a specific issue that you wish to raise, then you should try to talk to your boss, as you might find that there is something that he would be able to do to make sure that you were never troubled by the same issue again.
