who told us we had to? i know that she is the richest woman of color on the planet. i know that people in high places value her opinion...but, she doesn't reach me. she doesn't apply to me. my aunt use to watch her show when i was a little kid. it use to really boar me to death. the topics she spoke about were not even relevant. it wasn't until the last few years before her show ended did it get somewhat okay. now she has a magazine and a television station. why and how did she get to be so huge in the public eye. who told us that we had to love ophrah. there are better talk show host with more interesting topics, if that's the case.

I never got that message that I had to love Oprah. I do think that she does some great interviews and asks the right key questions etc. I have at times watched her show more for the guest or guests than I have her. I,truthfully, find her to be quite annoying. Her voice and sound effects...ugh! I mean, I think she has come a long way and I'm sure she has a big heart and all but I don't know...I think her "greatness" is greatly exaggerated. Just my opinion.

People love what they want. You don't have to like the show, or even like her. No one made you watch it (I hope). It was your choice. Maybe for the people who watched it her opinion was relevant, maybe they liked the way she thinks, acts.
I never watched her show but there was a similar tv show in my country and I thought it was pretty nice.

I agree with you , I dont see why he/she feel they have to watch it . I also dont watch her show but my mother do , and she can relate to her topics . Just like what you like and let others like what they like , thats the way to go .

I don't understand it at all. Many times she has displayed very poor judgement when it comes to people and things. She opened a school in Africa which continues to have problems with child molestation. She has touted writers in her book club who have been plagiarists and who have said a book was fact when it was fiction. She touted a self help guru who later was responsible for the deaths of several people. She is a big supporter of Obama who is leading the U.S. into socialism.

I also asked the same question before, but I saw one of her video on youtube that talks about law of attraction. She believes about the law of attraction and she told her story about how she got discovered. I think it's all about the law, somehow I do believe it because of these people. Here is the link that I'm talking about.

I think its mostly because of all the Charity work she does. She actually uses her money for a good cause and gives it away for the good of the less fortunate. People might say that she does that to be liked and others my say what's wrong about wanted to be liked.
My point is people are different and different people like different stuff . What may be non-sense for us may be very valuable information for someone else, what may be music for someone may be just noise to someone else.
People that like Oprah might say You don't get her , you might say they don't get how boring it is listening to her.
but is one really better than the other, that cannot be settled.

Hi Moon
Not everyone loves Oprah. I watched her when she first started over twenty or more years ago. She has been generous to many people and organizations, but I liked her better in the past. Her topics now are not mind blowing and I watch other programs instead. Oprah gives gifts. She has too much money. In a way it is unfair as there are so many poor people in the world.

If she earns it by her own efforts, it can't be termed as unfair I guess. Unless we have a rule in society that people can only earn a certain amount of money. Anyway, she is generous in contribution to charities. Compared to those rich people who don't care about the less fortunate and the disadvantaged, she is a saint.

Its strange how you think someone could tell you to love someone . So many people wouldn't love a person just because others tell them to love her . She dont have to reach you , a lot of other shows as you mention are out there that are more your type so just watch them no one is telling you that you need to watch Oprah .
Why do you question someone hard work and success is it so shocking that she could be huge , with hard work and wisdom may come business success . I dont really watch her show but whenever I watch her I love what she talk about and what she do .

No. Nobody told me to love her. I like her because her show is entertaining. I like her because she is quite a lady. I like her because she has characters. Nobody need to like her as if they have to. They like her because they want to like her.

While I am not a fan of Oprah, I think she is doing something that she worked hard at developing over the years, enjoyed doing her work and she is being paid for it too.
Let's be happy for her; as through many segments of her work, she and her team have been making their contribution to the overall upliftment of the society ( and perhaps, the world), while providing some of us with entertainment and information. Some persons have also been inspired by her 'body of work', and accomplishments.
Just smile, and let her live, ok?.

Some of us are neutral about Oprah. In many ways she's been inspiring because she was instrumental in encouraging women to be empowered in their lives.
After she became "larger than life" she became a philanthropist and a percentage of people learned to love her because she was generous.

I don't like Oprah, I never have and I never will. The real clincher tho was when she had author James Frey on her show and basically brow beat him on television in front of millions of viewers. To me that was totally uncalled. She was throwing her weight around. Misusing her power to try to destroy him. Did it work? Nope. He sold even more copies of A Million Little Pieces and the sequel My Friend Leonard. I have both of those books plus a third one he wrote called Bright Shiny Morning and I love all 3 of them.
Yes, Oprah has done some good in her life, shared her millions by donating to charities but she also picks and chooses those charities carefully. She also has a very high opinion of herself and appears to think that she is beyond reproach. I'm definitely NOT a fan of hers.
